RMBA Purim 2015
RMBA Purim 2015

PAST RMBA HIGHLIGHTS
THE DAYS LEADING UP TO PURIM...
Students enjoyed a fun few days leading up to Purim with different costume themes each days for Lower, Middle and High School. We saw crazy hats, Disney characters, favorite people from the Torah, sports stars and a princess or two.

THE PROOF IS IN THE TEXT
In honor of Purim and in connection to the Mishnas 6th grade students are studying, the students enjoyed a hands on presentation about how to make a Kosher Megillah.  They learnt all about the inks, quills and parchment needed to make not only a Kosher megillah,  but Kosher teffillin, mezzuzos, and  Sifrei Torah.

GROGGER FUN
EC3 students created groggers out of plastic bottles and paper mache. Students were read the story of Purim and then together, had to retell the story the following day to their teachers and peers which was written and displayed outside their classroom.

5TH GRADE PURIM PLAY
Our 5th grade students performed an entertaining Purim play for students, family and friends conducted solely in Hebrew.

CEREAL SURPRISE
Middle School Science students used cereal boxes to highlight a disease of choice. Students then had to identify the pathogen (virus, bacteria, or fungi). The front side of the box had to have a catchy slogan, whereas the back side of the box had to have a puzzle or fun game. The two side panels of the box had five fun facts and seven scientific facts about the disease.

MASKED SURPRISE
EC 2 students have been focussing their efforts on all things Purim. Student made beautifully decorated masks, baked hamantashen and have been learning different songs related to the characters in the story of Purim.

STREGA MORE PLEASE
First grade students participated in a unit on character study using the Strega Nona series written by Tomie dePaola.  They read several of the books and analyzed the characters working hard at paying attention to details in the stories to learn more about  the three main characters, Strega Nona, Big Anthony and Bambolona. After reading Strega Nona:Her Story and Big Anthony:His Story the children inquired about  Bambolona's story.  Since there has not been one written, we decided to write individual letters to the author and request he write one.

AIPAC CONFERENCE
Rabbi Levitt accompanied a group of passionate RMBA students to the AIPAC conference held in Washington, DC a few days ago.  This gathering saw
tens of thousands of pro-Israel Americans gather for AIPAC's Policy Conference to help shape U.S. policy and strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship. This was a once in a lifetime occasion for our students who were fortunate to participate in this inspiring event.
