PAST RMBA HIGHLIGHTS
AN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR
This week, RMBA hosted their annual 5th Grade International Festival. Families and friends were invited to enjoy the festivities that included sampling delicious bites from a particular country, view dioramas of synagogues and learn about the unique history of countries through Hebrew projects that these students had diligently created. The evening was capped off with students presenting Hebrew teacher Rina Erlichman with a cake to celebrate her 75th birthday!

HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
Mrs. Berger's 3rd grade class has been studying clouds and were taken outside to examine the clouds in the sky and determine their names based on their size and layout.

CANDY CELLS
Ms. DiGulio's 6th grade Middle School students enjoyed a fun and delicious activity where they could create a plant or animal cell out of candy based on two diagrams provided.

ADVOCATE FOR ISRAEL
Representatives from Israel Connections, an Israel Advocacy group shared some wonderful insight and ideas with our high school students about how to combat the misconceptions about Israel and to become a better ambassador on her behalf.

CHANUKAH IS COMING TO TOWN
The Chanukah energy throughout the school is palpable with many grades and classes working on projects or themes related to Chanukah. Morah Judy Pollak's first grade class is working to create drip mats for their Menorahs at home while the Kindergarten students are learning the skilled art of playing Dreidel.

EYES ONLY FOR YOU
EC 15 Teacher Marla Reiner leads her group during circle time daily for students to enjoy stories, music or educational games. The students seen below are learning to cover their eyes while the Shema is being recited.

SCULPTURE THIS
Middle school boys are working in small groups on a project in their art class that they are truly enjoying! The assignment was using hot glue and popsicle sticks, build a sculpture that is at least 5 feet tall and building up by combining smaller shapes such as triangles or pyramids or even Stars of David.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER
As an exciting incentive towards their current studies, Mrs. Fowler's elementary students who have been learning about Native American Indians each gain a feather in their headbands with a newly acquired skill or to mark their achieved progress.

HOOPS FOR HEART
Through "Hoops for Heart," K-5th grade students have been learning all sorts of basketball and hula-hoop related skills in P.E. as well as fundraising for the American Heart Association. Here are the first few students who have raised money towards our $1,000 school goal.  We have less that two weeks to go and we hope you can support this cause as all money raised helps educate others about heart health and provides funds for research. Culminating "Hoops for Heart" activities will take place in each grade's regular P.E. class just prior to Winter Break.

A WOMAN OF WORTH
This past Motzaei Shabbat the middle school girls and their moms were invited to enjoy a melaveh malka at the Carmel home.  There was a great turnout and everyone enjoyed delicious desserts and treats.  There was also beautiful singing and divrei Torah.  The highlight of the evening was when the mothers and daughters each said why they appreciate the other, sharing the special qualities of each other.  Many thanks to Emuna Carmel for such a lovely evening!

DELIBERATE DISPUTE
Mrs. Janice Kusin's debate class met for a hotly contested discourse regarding the pros and cons of vaccinations. Students shared a variety of facts and figures coupled with stellar debating skills as they duked it out in a mature and professional manner.

AM YISROEL CHAI
This year the state of Israel passed a law that every year on the 17th day of Kislev, will be a day of honor for the soldiers that were injured in Israeli wars. Schools all over the world sent thank you letters to the injured soldiers and our 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders wrote letters with the Bnot Sheirut who then took pictures of the students forming the words Toda (thank you).  These kinds of pictures are being taken all over the world and sent to soldiers in Israel.
