LOVING OUR LENTILS
In honor of last week's Parsha Toldot, Morah Roza Gross shared with her 4th grade students the story of brothers Esau and Jacob and how Esau sold his birthright to his brother for a bowl of cooked lentils. After students performed prepared skits and presentations in groups, Morah Roza treated her students to delicious lentil soup.
SHAKE IT OFF Our early Childhood students thoroughly enjoy their music and movement classes where they sing and dance along to music, play instruments and enjoy some fun and colorful activities.
CHANUKIAH!
In honor of Chanukah, our Bnot Sheirut made a giant chanukiah composed of individual photos of every student and staff member in our school proudly displayed in our school lobby. It also tied into the middah of the month, Chizuk (encouragement) and how when we bring all the individual pieces together, we are stronger as one.
ALL GOOD THINGS... And just like that, they are back! After an incredible 2 weeks away exploring and experiencing Israel, our seniors have returned to Houston. After their initial time up north, they made their way south to Arad, The Dead Sea, Ein Gedi followed by Shabbat and some very special times in Jerusalem capped off by a powerful visit to the Knesset, Yad Vashem, Tel Aviv and a final visit to the Kotel. Below the students are photographed at Masada following their early morning climb.
MOMS AND MUFFINS and DADS AND DONUTS PTO organized two fun mornings for RMBA moms and dads respectively, where they could daven with their children and enjoy delicious muffins and donuts while perusing the PTO book fair. ALL ABOUT THAT DRAMA
The High School production of the Little Mermaid is well underway with weekly rehearsals and the dedicated scenery crew starting to paint scenery for our upcoming production. We are thrilled that 67% of our high school students participate in our Drama Club. RUNNING UP A STORM
Our Girls on the Run and Track crew are making serious strides ahead of their 5K run in a few weeks. The participants meet twice a week after school and take part in some challenging exercises in addition to many thoughtful discussions about body issues.

Click here for detailed instructions for two different ways to access the daily practice schedule. The spreadsheets that were sent out at the beginning of the year should not be used anymore. The online school calendar will be your only source of updated practices and games. Here is a link to the athletic schedule also.

Weekly Basketball Season Recap
- High School Girls continued their season with some tough losses this week, but are continuing to get better with each game. Tehilla Teigman registered games of 39 and 29 points last week. The girls are 1-5 overall (1-0 in district)..
- High School Boys have continued their season this week. The boys moved to 4-1 on the year (1-0 in district), after their first loss against Southwest Christian.
- Middle School Boys varsity continued their season with a win against Wesley. The varsity boys are 2-2 on the season.
- Middle School Girls have split their last two games. They beat Emery and lost to Wesley. They are 2-1 on the season.
Middle School Basketball Reminders
-
All girls MUST wear an undershirt under their jersey. This shirt must be the same color as the primary color of the uniform (Home games - white; Away games - Royal blue). Boys don't need to wear an undershirt, but if they choose to do so, the same rules apply.
-
All players (boys and girls) need to purchase a royal blue pair of shorts if they do not already have. The shorts need to be completely royal blue with no stripes down the side. They can be purchased at Academy for about $6.00.
-
Some schools will charge admission at their schools to watch the game (most will not charge). We do not charge admission at Beren for middle school games.
-
Transportation to and from away games are the parents responsibility. The middle school girls do not have any away games until January.
-
There will be games in which the middle school players will need to leave their last class early to make it to the games on time.
-
A list of Away game locations is posted on the website.
-
Updated practice schedules are on the school calendar and game schedules can be found on the school website and calendar.
-
Please use the Greenwillow gate for picking up students after games or practices.
-
If you have any questions, please e-mail me at chriscole@berenacademy.org.
