PAST RMBA HIGHLIGHTS
CHALK IT UP TO MATH
Ms. Brenda Berger took her 3rd grade students outside the classroom to tackle multiplication in a fun and challenging manner! Students paired up to solve math problems with sidewalk chalk.

FIRE IT UP!
Our lower school students braved the sudden onset of cold weather last week to welcome the Houston Fire Department for a visit. Students stepped inside the fire truck, asked questions and posed for a neat photo on the fire truck.

SENIOR TRIP TO ISRAEL
The Seniors are enjoying a whirlwind visit to Israel starting with the North as seen below at Har Bental in the Golan Heights. They made their way South, visiting Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Masada filling their days with incredible experiences and memories to last a life time. Follow the adventures through the Beren Israel Trip Facebook page here

BASKETBALL MANIA
The basketball season is well underway with our middle and high school teams enjoying solid results and building from week to week. The players dedicate an incredible amount of time and energy practicing and playing and we thank the fans who come out to support the Beren Stars!

HIGH SCHOOL CATCH UP
Mrs. Cedano schedules a weekly Friday gathering with her high school students,  a time for Student Council representatives to share updates or recaps and Mrs. Cedano addresses the students about pertinent information and occasionally engages the students in fun and challenging team building exercises.

TORAH PIZZA GYM!
We hosted our first Torah Pizza Gym session of the season this past Saturday evening. 2nd - 6th grade students and parents were invited to enjoy an evening filled with interesting learning opportunities and fun times hosted by our Shlichim and Bnot Sheirut! We focused on the Mitzvah of honoring your parents, and with the help of some inserts from the Talmud, we learned about how part of honoring your parents- is actually honoring God, who is a full partner in the creation of a person.

HAPPY CAMPERS
During the Elementary and Upper School Parent teacher meetings, our Shlichim organized an optional mini-camp that was run by some our high school students. Campers had loads of fun throughout the day enjoying obstacle courses, games and more!

SMART Training
RMBA recently received a SMART Board through the Legacy Heritage Fund Grant. Many of our staff throughout elementary and upper school make use of SMART Board technology for lessons plans and to enhance student interaction and engagement. This generous grant also afforded RMBA a day of technical training where four sessions were offered based on our teachers' user levels.

HOOPS FOR HEART
RMBA is once again participating in  the Hoops for Heart Program with K-5 students introduced to the program with an assembly led by Mrs. Ellen Buchine that featured a video and presentation. Students are encouraged to get family and friends to donate to the American Heart Association and their individual campaigns. A fun Hoops for Heart event will then take place in one month featuring basketball and hula-hoop events and some puzzles relating to heart health.

High School Boys have continued their season with a win this week.  The boys moved to 4-0 on the year (1-0 in district), by beating CHSA.

Middle School Boys varsity continued their season with a win against CHSA.  The varsity boys are 1-2 on the season.

Middle School Girls opened their season with a win against Logos Prep.  They are 1-0 on the season.

Middle School Basketball Reminders

  • All girls MUST wear an undershirt under their jersey. This shirt must be the same color as the primary color of the uniform (Home games - white; Away games - Royal blue). Boys don't need to wear an undershirt, but if they choose to do so, the same rules apply.

  • All players (boys and girls) need to purchase a royal blue pair of shorts if they do not already have. The shorts need to be completely royal blue with no stripes down the side. They can be purchased at Academy for about $6.00.

  • Some schools will charge admission at their schools to watch the game (most will not charge). We do not charge admission at Beren for middle school games.

  • Transportation to and from away games are the parents responsibility. The middle school girls do not have any away games until January.

  • There will be games in which the middle school players will need to leave their last class early to make it to the games on time.

  • A list of Away game locations is posted on the website.

  • Updated practice schedules are on the school calendar and game schedules can be found on the school website and calendar.

  • Please use the Greenwillow gate for picking up students after games or practices.

  • If you have any questions, please e-mail me at chriscole@berenacademy.org.
