Carnival Magic
The rain could not dampen our spirits as the RMBA PTO hosted yet another incredible Sukkot Carnival! Organizers swiftly moved activities indoors and guests enjoyed fun inflatables, delicious foods, fun carnival games and prizes and an enticing auction. We may not be able to predict the weather but we can assure you that our Sukkot Carnival will always be loads of fun! Thank you to our incredible PTO team for organizing this stellar event.
Meals on Wheels
Students were asked to participate in a different type of food drive and bring unopened dog or cat food to support people who receive support from Meals on Wheels and also need assistance to tend to their pets. Our lower school student council in conjunction with some high school students spearheaded this drive in addition to arranging for support from other organizations and then delivering the food to the Meals on Wheels location at the ERJCC.
Eating in the Sukkah
Our Elementary and Upper School students tried to eat as many meals in the Sukkah during Sukkot including most lunches and even enjoyed an Israeli style breakfast.
Ice Cream in the Sukkah
Early Childhood students enjoyed eating delicious ice cream in the Sukkah last week in celebration of Sukkot.
Ice Adventure
The High School students enjoyed an awesome Sukkot trip to the Galleria Ice Rink. Students enjoyed bonding with each other while either skating or working on the Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts. For the students who could not skate it was no problem because their friends were happy to help.
Learning about the Lulav
Morah Aviva Abitbol had her EC3 students enthralled and engaged when learning about the Lulav and Etrog and what the various leaves and components symbolized and how it is bound together.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The High School Student Council has undertaken several activities to show their support to find a cure against Breast Cancer this month. Our High School students have been wearing pink shirts on Wednesdays in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and each class in the high school decorated a t-shirt displayed in the foyer and students are asked to vote for their favorite t-shirt with a nominal amount of money. All funds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
EC15 Manipulatives Corner
Morah Marla Reiner has introduced a manipulatives corner in her EC15 class. She takes two students at a time for a brief session focussed solely on working on manipulative toys such as puzzles allowing for more individualized attention when working on developmental skills.
Surviving Sukkot Desert Style Our Shlichim, Ilan and Sheli Ehrlich and our Bnot Sheirut ran and fun and exciting outdoor Sukkot program for students throughout the day teaching them how the Jews survived in the desert after leaving Egypt. Students erected a Sukkah, baked pita. made tea, created jewelry and competed in a challenging obstacle course while transporting water.
Fire Safety First
Grade 3 students experienced first hand how to protect themselves in the event of a fire thanks to a visit from the Houston Fire Department's mobile fire safety trailer. This interactive experience was both enlightening and exciting for our students.
Field Trip Fun!
The RMBA 5th graders visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science Time Line of Life exhibit this week to bolster their studies on the evolution of life forms, visiting the periods of Cambrian to Prehistoric ages. Armed with composition books and graphite pencils, each student was challenged with creating a Time Line scavenger hunt for their 4th grade cohorts.
Kosher is King
Rabbi Yossi Grossman and Alex Pfeffer from HKA presented Kosher 101 to our Men's Seminar class this week. The students will enjoy a visit to Randall's supermarket later this week to help the students understand the ins and outs of Kosher food supervision.

Middle School basketball has started and the players are working hard at practice. The teams will play their first games on the week of November 3rd.
Former Beren Stars debuting in college
This was a big week for former Beren Academy Stars as two former players started their college careers.
The Harvard Crimson opened up their season with a practice and scrimmage that was shown on ESPN3. Zach Yoshor (class of 2013) began his freshman campaign with the Crimson.
The Yeshiva University Macabees also had their men's basketball team announced this week. Making the team is former RMBA standout Isaac Mirwis (class of 2012).
