INTRODUCING OUR RMBA BOOKKEEPER, STEPHANIE MORRIS
|
Over the summer, RMBA welcomed Stephanie Morris to our administrative staff as the new bookkeeper. Stephanie was born and raised in Paducah, Kentucky. She has her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Stephanie spent most of her adult life in Houston and was a government contractor in Afghanistan and Dubai between 2007 and 2012. Although challenging at times, she found the experience incredibly rewarding and valued learning about other cultures. It made her appreciate her life in America that much more. On weekends, Stephanie and her husband enjoy taking their boat out, relaxing and fishing. Stephanie has three grown children, and one grandson aged 3. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself to Stephanie Morris!

ROSH HASHANA READY
Morah Rinat's 4th grade Hebrew class enjoyed learning about Rosh Hashana with three exciting stations that students rotated between, with all discussions taking place in Hebrew. One station focused on a bingo game where students learned about the various foods associated with Rosh Hashana. Another station involved students learning about how to write blessings for the new year, and the final station was involved learning about and tasting honey.
CIRCLE TIME
EC4 students enjoy circle time with Morah Esther Hakakian who is educating her class about the symbolism of the shofar and how they are made with horns from a ram and sand paper illustrating how to smooth it to create a beautiful shofar.
COFFEE TALK
The Counseling/Guidance Department had a good turnout for the first Coffee, Croissants & Conversations parent session. Guidance Counselor Stacey Laves-Khalifa will hold a few of these informal sessions a year for parents to share and discuss topical issues. This session focussed on Tech Talk and suggestions for setting rules at home for our students.
KINDERGARTEN
Morah Gabi Gelman is teaching her Kindergarten class about symbolic items pertaining to Rosh Hashana such as a pomegranate and how we eat it for the hope that we will perform all the mitzvot of the Torah during the coming year.
SKIP AROUND THE ROOM
Morah Esther created a fun activity for her EC2 students to learn about Tashlich (symbolically casting away our sins). She recreated a body of water with fish inside and students then skipped around the water and threw bread crumbs into the lake to symbolise casting away their sins ahead of Rosh Hashana.
YACHAD EVENT
This past Sunday was the Yachad opening event where Yachad members and RMBA teens decorated and tie dyed t-shirts! They also had freshly made fruit smoothies and played some really fun ice breaker games. This event epitomized all that yachad is about, inclusion! It was the first of many fun events to come this year.
CHECKMATE CHAMPS
First grade chess club members eagerly attend their sessions after school where they enhance their chess playing skills. Watch out parents, your move!
STEP BY STEP
EC15 students have adjusted well to their weekly PE sessions and enjoy working on their ball skills, playing with hula hoops and climbing stairs.
