Congratulations to members of the Middle and High School Student Council. |
UNITED WE STAND
Our upper school students participated in a brief 9/11 commemoration service remembering those that lost their lives during this terrible tragedy. The students first davened together followed by heartfelt speeches from principals Raquel Cedano and Rabbi Aaron Levitt followed by a short yet moving video to honor this moment in time.
ROCK THE VOTE
For the past two weeks, many of our middle and high school students have been campaigning for the opportunity to serve their peers as student council representatives. Flyers adorn the school hallways promoting potential candidates and this week, elections were held. We are so proud of all the students who kept their campaigning classy.
SHOPPING UP A STORM
Elementary students enjoyed their first Ulpan Maasi experience of the year. Our Bnot Sheirut created a shuk (market) experience where students purchased items that pertained to Rosh Hashana such as apples, honey and pomegranates to name a few. Items were labeled in Hebrew and students were encouraged to speak Hebrew while enjoying the re-creation of an Israeli style shuk.
MUSICAL MAGIC
Our music program is moving along swiftly with our Lower School students enjoying their weekly sessions with Jon Swann. Early childhood students as seen below enjoy music and movement to the accompaniment of guitar and sing-a-longs. The elementary school students are learning music theory basics with our 4th and 5th graders embracing their recorders.
EYE FOR BEAUTY
RMBA is now offering students a digital photography course. This exciting new elective allows high school students to learn the basics about using digital SLR cameras and how to manipulate images through the use of Adobe Photoshop Software. Lessons include plenty of practical experience with students exploring our vast campus to capture dynamic images for their exciting digital photography course.
APPLE FOR THE TEACHER
In preparation for Rosh Hashana our early childhood program students are learning about apples and how they relate to the Jewish new year. In addition to this, teachers are using apples as a theme throughout all teaching areas. For example: literacy (students are reading stories about apples and Rosh Hashana), math (students are counting and sorting apples), art (creating collages and exploring colors) and science (exploring taste, texture and consistency).
SPACE AND TIME
5th grade students presented amazing experiments to their 4th grade counterparts that demonstrated various laws of physics. Laws pertaining to gravity, heat, weight, mass, speed, light, space and time were applied as students presented their findings in groups.
HAPPY FEET
Students thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to participate in entertaining games and activities during their physical education lessons in the gym. Students get to expend their energy in a constructive manner while learning the value of communication, team work and respect.
