The first 10 weeks...
|
As we end the first quarter of school, we would like to share a short video above recapping our first 70 days of school. We have accomplished so much in this short space of time and we can't wait for what's to come...
SHOPPING, SHOPPING, SHOPPING!
Our Bnot Sherut, Ahuva Maltz and Rotem Sapir created an Israeli Makolet (supermarket) experience with a Hebrew atmosphere for our K-5 graders as part of their Ulpan Maasi (practical learning program). Students worked in groups to shop for items listed in Hebrew on their shopping list and pay using Shekalim (Israeli currency).
TIME FOR TEAMWORK Our 4th and 5th graders enjoyed a three day excursion to CYJ for the Nature's Classroom Institute program. The students enjoyed a creative and challenging curriculum where they learned about nature, teamwork and respect, all while having a fun and bonding time together.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MIX IT UP
Middle school students participated in a program called Mix It Up at Lunch Day. The team building program strives to improve intergroup relations and reduce any prejudice at school.
THE BEAUTY OF ISRAEL After an incredible evening visit to the Kotel in Jerusalem, the seniors continued touring Israel visiting Yad Vashem, Tel Aviv, Yafo, Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea, Kibbutz Lavi and the Golan. We look forward to their return on November 12.

THE LESSONS OF MITZVOT Enjoy the video above of Morah Judy Pollack's first grade class doing the mitzvah of Bikur Cholim (Healing of the Ill). They sent a video of well wishes to a friend of Morah Maltz who is sick in Israel. LATER GATERS
Kindergarten students have been working very hard the past couple weeks to make their own, large alligator puppets. After reading the book There's an Alligator Under My Bed by Mercer Mayer, students learned how to weave paper together for the alligator's body. They then practiced using their scissor skills to cut out their alligator's head, tail, and feet.
