SIGN OUR PETITION TO BAN HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES IN NYC
to Mayor and City Council
We realize that Mayor deBlasio has only been in office for a relatively short time and he has many challenges. This is a complicated issue. But we want to let him know that there are many people who want the inhumane and unsafe carriage trade shut down - and we want it soon. We have not gone away. So please click here to sign the petition and please share it with your friends and colleagues.

WE'RE IRISH AND LIAM NEESON DOES NOT SPEAK FOR US
picked up in Irish Central
We hate that Liam Neeson has made this into an Irish issue - simply because many of the drivers are Irish. Coincidentally, the activists who head up the campaigns in several cities also happen to be Irish descent - Matt McEwen - Chicago; Kim Flaherty - Sacramento and Kathy Burke - Atlanta. And for New York City -- my mother was born in Ireland. As first generation Irish - (even half) I am probably more Irish than many drivers putting on a phony accent. But this is not an ethnic issue - never has been. It is worldwide and our campaign is made up of anyone with compassion for the horses who wants to participate.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's day - let's get past this and forget Neeson whose real character - sans acting mask - has revealed a cruel, crude, selfish, bigoted bully. -- one who says on national television that he is "pissed off" with Mayor deBlasio and tells him to "man up" and come to the stables. Let's put this ethnic nonsense behind us. This is about exploiting horses for profit and this dreadful trade needs to be stopped. Liam Neeson is a bully says Irish American animal rights group

NEW AD THANKING MAYOR DEBLASIO
running in Metro - take a look
We are the organization that began this ban campaign in 2006 and we plan to continue our ad campaign until this inhumane, unsafe and abusive trade is stopped. If you would like to contribute to our advertising campaign, you may donate here. Please remember we are all volunteer and do not take salaries. Every penny you donate is put back into the organization. This ad is currently being run twice a week in Metro.

We are hoping Mayor deBlasio takes action soon.

CONTACT MAYOR DEBLASIO
very easy through the Internet
For the last 5-6 months, there has been an onslaught by the media against the proposed carriage horse ban. The media has presented the issue from the carriage driver's point of view. From Fox News to CNN and Channel 11 in NYC. They have all done it with no shame.

Contact Mayor deBlasio - tell him that you want a ban of horse-drawn carriages this year. If he delays it for three years or if there is another accident, it will hurt him politically. Tell him that you voted for him because he promised to ban the trade - and even on the first day he took office, which we knew was an impossibility. . So far, nothing has been done. Click Here. Please be respectful.

TWO ARTICLES ON THE ISSUE - SKY NEWS & DAILY MAUL
Liam Neeson: Wolf Eater, Equine Slavery Advocate -- the Daily Maul - True--as the writer says, Liam Neeson's remarks about the NYC carriage trade are "insulting" and "callous," to say the least. They're also disingenuous and designed to dupe the public--the "industry" hasn't been operating since 1858, for starters. It's time the public starts challenging this bully and saying "Enough!" Neanderthal thinking is so tiresome.

Mayor's Move to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages - Sky News -- fairly presenting both sides.

MAYOR DEBLASIO DOES NOT WAIVER - IS RESOLUTE
in face of opposition about the carriage horse ban
After being pressured by Liam Neeson and told to "man up" and see the stables - Mayor deBlasio is quoted in the Daily News as saying "I respect Liam Neeson a lot, I'm a big fan of his work. But the fact is, I put forward a plan and a vision and the people ratified it in an election and that's what matters most," de Blasio said Saturday about the action star's offer."Click here for story.

The Central Labor Council sent a letter to Mayor deBlasio with many exaggerations about the carriage trade trying to persuade him to change his mind. DeBlasio responded: "No, I haven't reconsidered. I respect those organizations, they're friends, they're people I respect. But they know where I stand," Mr. de Blasio told the Observer at an unrelated City Hall press conference this afternoon. "I've told them many, many times where I stand. We're going to work with that industry on the transition, we're going to take every effort to make sure folks working in that industry have a few options but I know where I stand."Click here for the story.

CARRIAGE DRIVERS NEW BANNER
shocking banner unveiled at hack line
We were shocked to come upon this banner yesterday near the hack line. No words are necessary.

CRAIN'S NY BUSINESS POLL - WE WIN
75% to 30%
Results of Crain's NY Business poll. WE WIN! They asked this question: "Who do you think is right about the horse-drawn carriage industry?" The mayor. It's cruel to have horses traveling in traffic across the city. The streets of New York are no place for horses. (75%, 26,687 Votes) Liam. The horses are well cared for at the stables, and it's an age-old, thriving industry that shouldn't be replaced by electric cars. (25%, 8,848 Votes) Total Voters: 35,535

This poll is much more in keeping with all the polls that have been done since 2006.
