SIGN OUR PETITION TO BAN HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES IN NYC
to Mayor and City Council
We realize that Mayor deBlasio has only been in office for a relatively short time and he has many challenges. This is a complicated issue. But we want to let him know that there are many people who want the inhumane and unsafe carriage trade shut down - and we want it soon. We have not gone away. So please click here to sign the petition and please share it with your friends and colleagues.
LIAM NEESON IS BESTED BY JON STEWART ON DAILY SHOW
Neeson badly defends his carriage driving buddies.
Liam Neeson was a guest on the Daily Show to plug his new movie (that got bad reviews.) He has supported the carriage drivers for years and soon got into the carriage horse argument with Stewart. But we wonder why Liam Neeson is not advocating for the horses in Ireland. Homes have been guaranteed for the NYC carriage horses through the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. But in Ireland, the horses are being abandoned and are starving thanks to the economy.
Neeson apparently does not know how to make a good argument. He says "the horse carriage industry made the roads of New York." Stewart mocked him on this one. He also had a good retort about the 60 square foot stalls when Neeson said "they treat their horses like their children." This is a link to the article.

DALLAS SENDS A "LOVE LETTER" TO MAYOR DeBLASIO
for his stand on the carraige horse issue
The Dallas animal rights group - Animal Connection Texas - sent us this video supporting the carriage horse ban in NYC and thanking Mayor deBlasio. Thank you Dallas for your support. Click here.
"COBBLE TOGETHER" $4,000,000?
carriage owners hardly poor working class
We suspect that the stable owners of the W. 37th St. and W. 38th St. stable, which are in the path of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment project, are waiting to get the highest amount possible before they sell. There is nothing wrong with that, but the media has presented them as poor working class immigrants. How many people do you know who can "cobble together" $4,000,000. This must be the result of their cash only business and not paying the appropriate taxes on their income. The stable pictured on W. 38th St. is worth about $10,000,000.
Read about the value of the stables and how some of the owners have actually worked the real estate market previously. I would not feel too sorry for them.

KIDS LEARN COMPASSION YOUNG
We had a table at the NYC Veg Festival in NYC this weekend through Raising Veg Kids. Kids stopped by our table to color and draw pictures with messages to Mayor deBlasio. This is one of them. We will have more next week.
