PLEASE COME TO OUR FUND RAISING PARTY WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Monday evening September 9th
We are proud to announce that Jane Velez-Mitchell will once again be our honored guest at the Coalition's fund raiser to speak out for the carriage horses. Jane has been a very strong supporter of a ban on horse-drawn carriages, having addressed this issue several times on her TV news show Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell on HLN.
Our fund raiser will be held at:
Fontana's - 105 Eldridge St, Manhattan, NY 10002
Monday night - September 9, 2013
6:30pm to 9:30pm
We chose September 9th because it is the night before the all important mayoral primary and will also serve as a Get Out the Vote Rally for Bill deBlasio for Mayor. (this is Jane Velez-Mitchell at one of our previous fund raisers.)
Invitations will be sent out shortly.

BILL DEBLASIO FOR MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY!
Please support our deBlasio for Mayor ads
Last week we endorsed Bill deBlasio for Mayor of NYC. We like Bill because of his support for a ban on horse-drawn carriages but also because he is the most progressive, intelligent and far thinking candidate running. While our anti carriage horse trade ads will continue through the month and into September, we also plan to run some new ads for deBlasio for mayor.
If you would like to donate to this - and please give what you can - go to our donation page and indicate that it is for Bill deBlasio. We are hoping to raise enough to place 4-5 ads at $375 per ad.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OTHER CITIES
San Antonio
San Antonio - what started out as a campaign to increase the hours and days carriage horses work may result in a reduction in hours. The Council must vote on this proposal.
BILL TO BAN HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES IN NYS LEGISLATURE
Please make calls - Bill Numbers: S667 and A997 + Sign the petition
The only bill to support in the campaign to ban horse-drawn carriages in NYC is the Avella/Rosenthal bill in the State Legislature. It is a pure ban. There are no strings attached. This is a link to a petition we have on change. org. Please sign it if you have not done so already.
You can read the legislation by clicking on the bill numbers, S667 and A997 . Text in CAPS is new. Text with a strike through is deleted. (image of illegal u-turn on Central Park South)
WHAT YOU CAN DO
to support S667 and A997 - The horses need your help!
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to make calls and write e-mails to state legislators. If you have not yet done this, please do it now. It does not have to be done at one time. The horses need your help.
