Member Spotlight: Entergy

It's About Teamwork Entergy

Relationships with knowledgeable partners who are equally committed to common goals and on whom you can count over the long term are the foundations of success. Entergy's partnership with the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance is a case in point of this mantra, and we are extremely proud of all we have accomplished together to date in identifying, leveraging, and helping create and realize an unprecedented number of economic growth opportunities in this burgeoning region.

Entergy is engaged in determinedly proactive business strategies today to meet power needs into the future - at rates that remain among the lowest in the state, southern region and nation. Investments in transmission, like the recent Acadiana Load Pocket reliability project, and in state-of-the-art, combined-cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) generation resources like the Acadia Energy Center Power Block 2 and the Ninemile Unit 6 self-build, are key facets of that strategy. As well, Entergy's integration into the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, or MISO, allows us to buy and sell energy in a giant regional pool that stretches from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. This means improved reliability, diversified supply, access to more competitive generation resources, and a projected savings for Louisiana customers of approximately half a billion dollars over the next decade alone.

Meeting current and potential customers' needs for clean, safe, reliable, efficient and economic power is the best way we know to support the state's projected $50 billion industrial renaissance, driven in large part by the growth in southwest Louisiana. So we are proud to renew our commitment to work hand-in-hand with the Alliance and Louisiana Economic Development to attract, retain and expand business and industry. We'll be working together to continue to offer value-added tools and services like the Louisiana Site Selection Center website, the EDRED site certification program, research and engineering information, and other products targeted to leading local, national and global companies.

"Entergy has strategically restructured and positioned ourselves to operate a world-class energy business that will make pursuing economic growth opportunities a priority and create sustainable value for all our stakeholders," said Phillip May, president and chief executive officer of Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. "Partnered with the Alliance, we have the right team in place to market the southwest region - the epicenter of our state's economic opportunity - by offering leading companies unmatched value propositions. We look forward to continuing, as partners, to create an environment ripe for unprecedented economic growth and successes into the future."
