Advancing our Community:
A Framework for Oneness
Donna Hakimian and Justine Finn
We want to develop our full spiritual capacities to best serve the Cause, but we live in a world that makes that challenging. In this course, we will use the equality of women and men as a lens through which to examine our true realities. Moving beyond traditional understandings of gender inequality that creates either 'victims' or 'oppressors', our group will learn together how everyone can contribute to the creation of a society in which men and women work and exist as equals. Delving into the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh and `Abdu'l-Bahá, as well as findings from research, we will find inspiration and a practical model for how to live and serve humanity as equals, based on an understanding of the nature of the soul and the purpose of our earthly existence. In a dynamic mix of interactive workshops, small group study and the arts, participants will develop tools to enhance their path of service to be champions of peace and equality in their own communities. Children's and junior youth classes will be offered if enough children/junior youth register to form classes. Scholarships are available.

Cultivating an Environment "Wherein True Understanding Can Blossom"
With Solomon Atkins
What limits our participation in the life of the community? How do we create a culture of inclusion, nurturing, encouragement, support and action? This weekend will focus on the opportunities available to us to initiate a spiritually based process in our communities that builds capacity, strengthens synergies and heightens collaboration during times of growth and change, as well as times of stress and challenge. Learning to dispassionately identify and address dichotomies and differences that limit effective community building and human resource development, shifting energies from critical and deficit-based mindsets, to ones that are creative, positive and encouraging, will be the emphasis of our mutual exploration and learning together in this session. Includes programs for all ages 4 and up. Scholarships are available.
