Friends and Family Session V (Homecoming) Baha'i Approaches to Social Change:
Human Rights, Gender, and Racial Equality
Facilitated by Lex Musta and Roshan Danesh

Community Arts with Gustaff Besungu and others

What causes societies to change? What are the dynamics of advancing greater social justice and progress? How can I be an agent of positive social change?  Explore answers to these questions and others through a dynamic and interactive study of the Baha'i writings and their implications for meeting the challenges facing humanity today as we strive to create a more Homecoming 2011 peaceful, just and equal world.  Everyday - wherever we might be on the globe - we see the turmoil and despair caused by pervasive inequality and instability, and a lack of vision about the challenge of this moment in history and how to rise to meet that challenge. The goal of the session will be to develop new perspectives and understandings for thinking about, and acting meaningfully, to address the great social challenges of our time.

We will also be offering concurrent Children's, Jr. Youth, and Youth classes. Scholarships are available.

Building Divine Civilization: The Community, Social Action, and Discourse

Facilitated by Fridoon Rahimi

Considerable guidance has come from the Universal House of Justice that illuminates our way as we continually learn about the process of building divine civilization. In this session, we will study this guidance and in its light, examine our response both to the needs of the society and the opportunities created by the current Plan. We will look at the example of the Master in pursuing the aim of the plan, the role of  individuals, communities and the institutions in this process, and reflect on concepts put forth in the 2 March 2013 Letter from the Universal House of Justice to the Bahá'ís of Iran. The Bahá'í community, in its pursuit of community building and in its development of a spiritual program for the empowerment of youth and junior youth, is creating a system from which will emerge a new state of mind for individuals, and a new structure for human society. Join us for study and discussion. Scholarships are available.
