Memorial Day Weekend Program -- Register Now! |
Saturday May 25 - Monday May 27
Side-by-Side in the Field of Service to Humanity
Ed and Becky Rice
In the Riḍvn 2010 message the Universal House of Justice stated that as the friends continue to labor at the community level, "they would find themselves drawn further and further into the life of society and would be challenged to extend the process of systematic learning in which they are engaged to encompass a widening range of human endeavors. A rich tapestry of community life begins to emerge in every cluster as acts of communal worship, interspersed with discussions undertaken in the intimate setting of the home, are woven together with activities that provide spiritual education to all members of the population--adults, youth and children." Ultimately this process leads to the community reflecting "on the nature of the contributions which their growing, vibrant communities will make to the material and spiritual progress of society."
This program will explore with and through the participants, the elements required for creating a "rich tapestry of community life", including the life of the spirit, the necessity for spiritual education for all, and service as a path to building community.
Individuals will participate in large and small group activities in which they will explore the concepts through selected writings, stories, and discussion. This process will lead naturally to group reflection on individual and collective roles in their communities, and a growing sense, that "every soul is welcome to join the community in contributing to the betterment of society, commencing a path of service to humanity..."
This program may be of particular interest to Bah's and their friends who are learning more about the Bah' Faith and the Bah' community's emphasis on walking a path of service in the company of others.
