Regarding Youth Academies at Permanent Bahá'í Schools during Summer 2013
Dear Friends,
As you no doubt are aware, the Universal House of Justice has announced that 95 youth conferences will be held in localities across the globe from July through October this year, eight of which will be convened in the United States. To fully enable Bahá'í youth and their like-minded peers --who are committing themselves to meaningful community-building endeavors throughout the world--to participate in these historic conferences, the National Bahá'i Schools have been asked not to schedule youth academies during the summer this year.
Warmest Bahá'í regards,
The Staff at Green Acre Bahá'í School

April 5-7
Handmaidens' Weekend:
Bahá'í Women in Today's World
Barbara Markert, Coordinator
Women of all ages and diverse backgrounds will join together as sisters to focus on deepening their understanding and development of the remarkable role of women revealed in the Bahá'í Faith. Presentations and conversations will include study of unique selections from the Writings on the special role of women, generating strength, wisdom and spiritual power. Learnings from the life of the Greatest Holy Leaf, the current Five Year Plan, testimonies and stories will offer further inspiration and courage for these challenging times. There will also be a service project available, art/music, fellowship and joy. Bahá'í women and their friends have gone home from past weekends for women feeling stronger, wiser, uplifted and dedicated.
There is no children's program this weekend; mature young women 12 and older may attend the Handmaidens' Weekend with their mothers or an adult sponsor. Scholarships are available. Register here.
Registration for the following programs will be opening soon. A brief eNewsletter will be sent when registration for these programs has opened. Stay tuned!
April 26-28 Program Weekend
With Ashkan Monfared Childrens classes will be offered if there are enough children to form classes.
May 16-19 BNASAA Conference "Challenging Habits of Thought" The stated purpose of BNASAA is to explore Bahá'í principles related to AIDS, human sexuality, addictions, abuse and other challenging personal issues and to consider questions and concerns that arise in the application of these principles to Bahá'í community development. In this exploration it is important to challenge our habitual ways of thinking about these issues. The Network's goal is to provide a loving and supportive environment in which participants can share experiences in an atmosphere of confidentiality. All participants, whether health professionals, members of Bahá'í Institutions, or individuals struggling with particular issues, are asked to manifest an attitude of loving support, and to actively participate in creating a non-judgmental and healing environment. BNASAA is a committee appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Canada. Scholarships are available. May 25-27 (Sat-Mon) Memorial Day
Family Weekend
