Worship Service - 10:00am
"Postmodernism and the Legacy of the Enlightenment"
In many ways contemporary culture is caught between a dedication to science and the use of rationality on the one hand and a skepticism about the human ability to be rational combined with moral relativism on the other. The tension between these two outlooks is present within UU circles. One way of looking at these issues is to see them as a struggle between Postmodernism and the continuing influence of the Enlightenment. This sermon will try to shed some light on these questions. Our Affiliated Community Minister, Rev. Dr. Jerome Stone speaking.
This week, children are invited to go directly to Room 5 for activities during the worship service. Childcare for infants, toddlers, and younger children will be available in Room 11 during the service.
The Chris Isely Cancer Support Group

The group is open to anyone facing cancer, either personally or through a family member or friend. This lay-led group is a safe place for sharing and hope. Interested participants are encouraged to drop in any time. Questions? Contact Renee Hoff or Brian Meister.

Black & Pink Letter Writing Event
Sunday, July 10, 11:15am
|
The Rainbow Alliance is offering an educational letter-writing event in room 3 immediately after the 10:00am service.
We are working through a national organization called Black & Pink. We have invited volunteers with Black & Pink to join us and guide us in how to establish and grow our pen pal relationship with someone who is behind bars. Megan Selby will be present and she is planning to bring a formerly incarcerated volunteer to speak with us.
We plan to begin to write letters of support to LGBTQ+ prisoners who need our care and support. Visit http://www.blackandpink.org/ for more information about their efforts to fight back against the prison industrial complex. We hope that you will join us in these simple acts of kindness.

Shared Offering Nominees for Next Year Deadline is July 31
|
We invite you to submit nominations for our shared offering recipients for the 2016-17 shared offering. Charitable 501c(3) organizations with which our members have a relationship will be chosen by the Social Action Council from the nominees. Please submit a shared offering form to Carol Nielsen or Doug Erickson by July 31. The form must be submitted electronically as we have to make packets of nominees for the Social Action Council.
At the August meeting, the Social Action Council will be deciding on the monthly offerings. Again, please note that suggested organizations must have a 501(c)3 status and be doing work that aligns with our UU values. Guidelines are listed on the Nominee Form. If you have questions, please contact Carol Nielsen or Doug Erickson.
