January 2014

You will be happy to learn that the NHFA is going strong, adding new members from all walks of life daily. We believe this is testament to the growing interest in home funerals and green funeral practices by the public and the media. As of January 2014, we have more than 400 members. We are so grateful you are with us!

Our Membership Profiles are now accessible by members only. You can edit your profile anytime (please do!). It is up to you to change your privacy settings either when you join or any time later. If you think you are a member but can't find your profile, contact Sarah Crews [email protected] or Zalene Corey [email protected]

Stand Up and Be Counted

GET YOUR Nancy Jewel Poer DVD

Nancy Jewel Poer has filmed a video just for members of the NHFA as a gift to us all. To get your copy, simply go to http://www.crossings.net, find the Donate button at the bottom, authorize $10 (the video is free; this will cover shipping and handling) and make a note that it is to purchase the DVD. Nancy so much wants you to have your copy and we want to get it to you!

GET LISTED ON OUR NEW DIRECTORIES

Help others find you on our easy-to-access website directory listings for Home Funeral Guides; Clergy, Chaplains, Celebrants; Home Funeral-friendly Funeral Directors; Threshold and Community Care Groups; Speakers Bureau; Trainers/Workshop Instructors

Send the following information to [email protected]:

Name of Individual(s) * Name of Organization * Town or City, State

Phone * Email * Website * Directory or directories

* A BRIEF 2-sentence biography that includes your education & background, and that pertains to the type of listing (i.e., something about your speaking experience for the Speakers list, something about your spiritual orientation for clergy, etc.) For groups, a description of your group and mission.

* A jpeg. photo head shot, or logo for groups

Note: Being on the Members List is NOT the same as being listed on a directory. If you joined the NHFA so you could be recognized as a home funeral guide, a celebrant, or other, the directories are for you!
Member Conference Survey Results Are Ready

Thanks to all for your terrific response to our recent survey letting us know what your preferences are for future conferences.

The Board now has a firm understanding of how to shape future conferences and are hard at work organizing. As you will see when you read the survey results, the majority who responded clearly support going to an alternating-year biennial in-person conference, supplemented with tech-supported virtual availability and opportunities for regional networking and conferencing. Look for our next in-person conference in fall of 2015!

IN GRATITUDE TO YOU

FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS

Now that we offer free membership, we need the help of all our members to support the NHFA financially. Thank you to all who have donated during our first annual drive, and we look forward to hearing from more of you soon. You can donate by check or by PayPal on our website.
