DECATUR ADVANCES TO FINAL ROUND OF KRAFT'S HOCKEYVILLE USA CONTEST!

By Mike Spaulding, NowDecatur.com The Decatur Youth Hockey Association is now just one step away from being able to claim their hometown as Hockeyville USA.

The Decatur Youth Hockey Association advanced to the finals of the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest after defeating Albertville Arena in Albertville, Minnesota in the final four round of voting. Decatur Youth Hockey now moves on to take on Johnstown, Pennsylvania, which defeated Sault Sainte Marie, MI, in the eastern bracket. Moving into the Finals, Decatur is already assured $75,000 in rink upgrades and is just one round away from winning the grand prize of $150,000.

"The support from the community has been incredible, and we are so grateful for everyone who has voted and helped spread the word. Either way, we know we've won because this community has come together to support this effort, spread the word and vote like crazy!" said Jason Habrock, president, Decatur Youth Hockey Association (DYHA).

Voting began Monday, April 27, and ends TONIGHT at 11:59 p.m. Just like in the other rounds, you can vote online, by calling 1-855-255-5975, and by texting 'Decatur' to 35350. You can vote 50 times per day by each method and you can vote both days.

ASK THE OFFICIAL BY DAVE ZEDNIK

QUESTION: Can an official disallow a goal after he signaled a goal? There was question as to whether the net had been dislodged before the goal was scored. After consulting the Linesman who was sure the net came off before the puck entered the goal, the official then disallowed the goal. Is this correct; can he change his decision in this case based off the Linesman?

ANSWER: Rule 502(a) in the USAH Playing Rules states, "The Referee may not change his decision, or that of any other official, after the resumption of play following the rendering of the original decision." Furthermore, Rule 502(c) states, "It shall be the Referee's duty to impose such infractions as outlined in the rules and give the final decision in matters pertaining to disputed goals after consultation with the Linesmen and/or Goal Judges." READ MORE>>
