Do you buy or keep things because you are worried you won't have enough of a certain item?   Here's a simple way to to know when you have enough.

Simplify decision making
I recently worked with a client who had saved every plastic bag she had brought home for several years.   Because they were all over her apartment, she didn't know if she had enough in case she needed one.  Here's how many we took from her apartment that she didn't need.

This looks overwhelming, but it's not that hard to get to this place if you don't have a good process for knowing when you have enough

Whether it's plastic bags, wrapping paper, shampoo or cereal, here's how you easily tell if you have enough

1.   Dedicate one and only one place to store an item.  Here's where I store my plastic bags.  That might not be big enough for you, and that's ok.   What's important is that you select a container that feels right to you.

2.   When the container is overflowing, you know you have enough.  In this case, store your extra plastic bags in your car to be dropped off at the grocery store.  In other cases, such as wrapping paper, it would be your clue not to buy any more even though it's on sale!

3.  When your container has space, you know to save a few bags the next time you bring some home.

Clutter often builds because of the inability to make a decision.  "Do I need this or not?"   The goal is to make decision making so easy, that the answer is clear.   Life is hard enough.  Don't spend your energy on what can be easy decisions!
