Special Olympics
The Hall County Sheriff's Office was honored to participate in and kickoff the Georgia Special Olympics Fall Games, this year!
Deputy Jonathan Jackson and his band performed live music for the opening ceremony and our Hall County Sheriff's Honor Guard presented the nation's colors to get the celebration and festivities underway.
This was the first of three years that our State's Special Olympics Fall Games, presented by Mattel, will be in the Gainesville-Hall County area. Venues were located at North Hall Park, Laurel Park and Chicopee Woods Golf Course, with medals awarded throughout the weekend.
Athletes had their balance, strength, and flexibility measured by physical therapists for free. They also enjoyed games, crafts, snacks, live music and more.
Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for 26,702 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community. For more info on the organization, visit them at www.specialolympicsga.org.

We would like to acknowledge Chris Baker who graduated from BCOT on September 18th, 2014. We would also like to congratulate Christopher Davenport for his recent (July 18th, 2014) completion of Landfill Operator Certification Training at the University of Georgia. We strive to provide well trained, efficient staff here at the Solid Waste Department; these two recent graduates exemplify that goal.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office began its 15th session of their Citizens Academy on October 7, 2014. The sessions meet weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Overall, the program gives our citizens a unique perspective into the daily operations of the Hall County Sheriff's Office. The syllabus includes education on various topics for the attendees provided by our Court Services Division, Patrol Division, Jail Division and Criminal Investigations Division. Participants will enjoy classroom instruction, simulated presentations and a few hands-on activities to bestow you with a better understanding as to the inner workings of the Hall County Sheriff's Office. This year's Citizens' Academy promises to be an exciting and enjoyable experience for everyone.
We hope everyone enjoys going "beyond the badge" with the Hall County Sheriff's Office this Fall!

Three very deserving Deputies received congratulations and accolades on Thursday (10/23/14) from Sheriff Gerald Couch, as he welcomed them into their new roles within our School Resource Officer Unit at the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
School Resource Officer, Deputy Jeff Fleming, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the unit on Thursday (10/23/14). Sergeant Fleming is a true professional. He has worked for the Hall County Sheriff's Office for approximately 13 years... 9 of which were as a School Resource Officer.
Deputy Robert Kinney was originally hired on at the Hall County Sheriff's Office, in 2009, as a Jailer. From there, he transitioned into a role in working security (Hall County Courthouse) with our Court Services Division. In October, he transferred from the Court Services Division into the new territory of our School Resource Officers' Unit. He is seen, posing here, with Dr. Robles from his new assignment - Chestatee Academy.
West Hall High School received a new School Resource Officer from their friends at the Hall County Sheriff's Office on Thursday (10/23/14). In addition to being certified as a Deputy since 1996, Deputy Comparini is fluent in three languages (English, Spanish and Italian). West Hall High School Principal, Scott Justus along with Sheriff Gerald Couch, congratulated Deputy Comparini on his recent assignment as the school's newest Resource Officer.

- Begin by navigating to webmail.hallcounty.org in your web browser.
- At the login prompt, enter your e-mail address and password.
- Hit the Log On button or press enter.
After you are logged in, you are taken to your Inbox. From here you can perform many of the same features you use in Outlook: viewing and responding to e-mail messages, modifying calendar entries, adding contacts, etc. In addition to these common functions, you can also access a few other handy features while away from your desk. To access these other features, click the Options button in the right hand corner of the window.
You will be taken to a screen with additional menu options on the left.
- You can click the Out of Office Assistant option on the left hand menu and modify automatic replies to people when you are out of the office. You even have the option to send one message to internal County employees and a different message to e-mails outside of the County.
- If you click Change Password on the left menu, you are taken to a screen that allows you to change your password without being at your computer. This can be really handy if you are out of the office for a week, but your password is set to expire during that time. Just login from anywhere and go to this screen to update your password.
Your first call should be the Hall County Help Desk at 770-531-6704. The Help Desk is available for any County computer work-related issue Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
