Hart of Gold
Road Maint & Fleet Maint
Little Robert Hart (9 years old) was diagnosed with cancer in 2010.
He goes to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egelston weekly for his treatment. A lot of times he wakes up from his spinal tap and asks if he can go to the treasure box. Recently he was looking through it and since it was mostly the same few things, he said "Do you think we could buy stuff for the treasure box because there's nothing in here?" He gave up his allowance and asked family & friends to pitch in so he could collect enough toys to share with the other children being treated at the hospital.
One of the men that we work with showed us the article about Robert and it touched everyone. Many of our employees immediately wanted to contribute to Robert's treasure chest fund. Everyone pulled together and went above & beyond. We ended up with two large boxes filled with items. We were so happy because when Robert, his Mom (Kasie) and his sister (Ally) came to pick it up, little Robert's happy little face was priceless!

Scam Alert - Jury Duty Phone Scam
HCSO
Crooks use clever schemes to defraud millions of people every year. They often combine sophisticated
technology with age-old tricks to get people to send money or give out personal information. They add
new twists to old schemes and pressure people to make important decisions on the spot.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office would like to inform the community of a recent scam that has been
brought to the attention of our office. In the last few weeks, the Sheriff's Office has received numerous
calls from concerned citizens that have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be Supervisors
from the Sheriff's Office. The individual on the phone indicates that they are calling because a jury duty
summons was not fulfilled and that a potential warrant for their arrest was in the process. The individual
provides accurate information on our local judges and personal information on the telephoned recipient.
The caller advises that money will have to be sent through a "Green Dot" card service in order for the
warrant to be dismissed. The recipient on the phone is advised to go to the local Rite Aid to obtain the
card and further instruction is given in order to "wire" the money to the assumed Sheriff's Office.
Neither the Hall County Sheriff's Office nor the Hall County Court House in any circumstance will contact
individuals by phone requesting money in lieu of dismissing a warrant. If you find yourself receiving a
phone call of this nature, please notify your local law enforcement agency. The Hall County Sheriff's
Office is aware of the scheme and is working to identify suspect(s) involved.
Remember:
If you are asked to act quickly, or there is an emergency, it may be a scam. Fraudsters
create a sense of urgency to get you to act quickly.
Verify any requests for personal information from any business or financial institution by
contacting them using the main contact information.
Remember if it looks or sounds too good to be true, it is. |

ADVANCE graduations underway...
HCSO

Sheriff Gerald Couch, and the School Resource Officers in the ADVANCE Unit with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, have been enjoying a round of graduation ceremonies this month! Fun filled mornings with the students and faculty of schools across Hall County are capped off with awards and certificates to congratulate them on their journey into healthy habits and personal growth.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office ADVANCE unit offers proactive strategies to enhance protective factors for young people. Sheriff Couch dedicates five deputies to facilitate the A.D.V.A.N.C.E. (Avoiding Drugs, Violence, and Negative Choices Early) program to fifth graders at our twenty elementary schools in Hall County.
The 10-week A.D.V.A.N.C.E. program has been used as a template for the Georgia Sheriff's Association C.H.A.M.P.S. education model. Strategies include emphasis on development of social competence, conflict resolution, and positive alternatives to drugs, violence, cyber-bullying, and gangs. In addition, informational lessons on personal safety, stranger-danger, internet safety, and water safety are facilitated through the fifth-grade curriculum.
ADVANCE graduation continues... Coming soon to a Hall County Elementary School near you!

Create keyboard shortcuts to open programs in Windows 7
1.Locate the shortcut to the program that you want to create a keyboard shortcut for. As an example, I'll use the FIREHOUSE shortcut on my Desktop.
2. Right-click the shortcut and then click Properties.
3. In the Shortcut Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab.
4. Click in the Shortcut key box, press the key on your keyboard that you want to use in combination with Ctrl+Alt (keyboard shortcuts automatically start with Ctrl+Alt), and then click OK.
Now, whenever I press Ctrl + Alt + F on my keyboard, FIREHOUSE launches. This method can be used for creating shortcuts to all your most used programs.
Your first call should be the Hall County Help Desk at 770-531-6704. The Help Desk is available for any County computer work-related issue Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Along with partners in the Survivor Committee, City of Gainesville's Civic Center, Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Texas Texas Roadhouse - Gainesville, GA North Georgia Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System and others we had a terrific time placing our survivors in the center seat at the dinner table for a feast in honor or their years of endurance and in celebration for their spirit in the night to end cancer. Dr. Charles Nash was our keynote speaker at the Relay for Life Survivors Dinner. He kept us abreast of advances made in the war in cancer, and encouraged us all to continue to stay strong in the fight. Looking forward to the Relay for Life event at Road Atlanta on May 2nd! Hope to see you there...
