Sheriff's Office

First, Sheriff Gerald Couch announced that Deputy Ronald Roush had been promoted to an Investigator (on 11/7/13). Investigator Roush has been with the Hall County Sheriff's Office since December of 2003. He began as a Jailer, was promoted to Sergeant in April of 2006 and has worked in our Uniform Patrol Division since 2007.

Prior to serving the citizens of Hall County, Investigator Roush had also served as a Chief Petty Officer (R) in the United States Navy! We invite you to join us in congratulating Investigator Roush, and saying a quick "Thank you" for his service...

Almost a week later (11/13/13), Sheriff Couch made the announcement of three other inner-office appointments to Community Service Officer, Public Information Officer and School Resource Officer (of Chestatee Middle School).

Deputy Nicole Bailes made the move to Community Service Officer. Investigator Mark Mitchell became the Public Information Officer (Sergeant) and Deputy Stephanie Bennett took on the role of School Resource Officer as of their promotional appointment ceremony.

Sergeant Mark Mitchell began working with the Hall County Sheriff's Office in February of 2008. He began in our Uniform Patrol Division, worked his way through Court Services (2009) and slid over to the Criminal Investigative Division (in 2011). Sergeant Mitchell now becomes the Public Information Officer for Sheriff Gerald Couch, moving into a role made vacant by the promotion of Stephen Wilbanks to 1st Lieutenant in Uniform Patrol.

Deputy Nicole Bailes had previously worked for Gainesville Police Department, and transferred from the local Probation office to the Hall County Sheriff's Office in February of 2013. From 2004-2006, Nicole had been a Jailer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Bailes graduated from the Police Academy in 2006, and transitioned into the Warrants Unit before moving over to the Gainesville Police Department. Very glad to have Nicole back, as a Community Service Officer!

Deputy Stephanie Bennett has been with the Hall County Sheriff's Office since February of 2006. She began as a Jailer and, later, graduated from the Police Academy in April of 2009. Deputy Bennett had most recently worked in our Uniform Patrol Division, before becoming a School Resource Officer.

We are very excited to have these professionals in their new positions at the Sheriff's Office! Looking forward to a bright future for all of Hall County through their dedicated service...

Basic Corrections Officer Training Graduates

On November 7, 2013 Officers Danny Couch (of the Landfill) and Allen Pittman (of Resource Recover/Recycling) graduated BCOT training and are now certified correctional officers. Basic Correctional Officer Training is a strenuous 6 week training course during which an individual learns how to conduct oneself around inmates.  It is a great accomplishment and we are proud of both Officer Couch and Officer Pittman for their successful completion of this training.

Correctional Institution celebrates 50 years at the Barber Road facility.

On November 8th, Hall Co. C.I. held a cookout and brought back several of the prior wardens in recognition of their 50 anniversary in their current facility. The cookout was attended by staff and their families. Also in attendance were former wardens Reggie Forrester, Don Nix, and Doug Derrer.

Staff were presented with embroidered 50 anniversary shirts to mark the occasion.

Warden Walt Davis noted that the current facility is old by current prison standards but, it continues to serve the county needs for inmate work details. The facility is merely a tool, albeit an important one, what's important are the people who work there. The facility runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The staff answers the call to duty to be there each and every day to effectively manage the operations of the prison. Many employees have built lasting relationships over the years that have lasted long after employment. We are proud of the job we do for the county. In 2012, the C.I. contributed over $ 2.5 million in free labor to the county through inmate work details. That is a valuable resource for maintaining roadways, parks, and county facilities. We look forward to continuing in our role for many years to come.

Direct Deposit

Effective January 1, 2014, all employees will be paid through direct deposit which means that all employees must be set up to receive their paycheck using direct deposit because actual checks will no longer be issued.

Using direct deposit for all employees will help improve the payroll process by creating a more efficient process, as well as to reduce the cost to produce an actual hard copy check.  Each pay-period, a direct deposit voucher will be

provided to you.

In order to avoid any disruption in pay, if you are an employee that does not have direct deposit in place, you will need to complete this process before December 9th.

If you don't already have a bank account that can be used to receive your direct deposit, you will need to make the necessary arrangements with a bank of your choice.

To complete the direct deposit process, please do the following:

1) Complete the Direct Deposit form that can be found on the Hall County website at www.hallcounty.org/files/pdfs/HR/Direct_Deposit_Form.pdf

2) Provide a voided check OR document from your bank that clearly shows the bank's routing number AND your account number

3) Return the direct deposit form AND voided check/bank document to BeverLee Croft in Human Resources

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Tosha in Payroll or BeverLee in Human Resources.

Hall County Sheriff's Office
Christmas Bike Program

The Hall County Sheriff's Office wants to spread Holiday cheer to needy children in our community! To convey the giving spirit of our dedicated public servants, we have initiated the collection for our Christmas Bicycle Program under care of our Courthouse Division. The newly appointed Community Service Officer and Public Information Officer were on hand, this week, to receive the program's first gift... A brand new bicycle, donated by the 2013 Hall County Sheriff's Office Citizens' Academy!

Sheriff Gerald Couch, along with all of your friends at the Hall County Sheriff's Office, would like to challenge our partners within the community to join us by contributing to the Christmas Bicycle Program. Again, we have teamed with the caring crew at WalMart of Gainesville to provide bikes to the less fortunate children in our community who may otherwise "go without" this Christmas. Each one of the bicycles in our program will be accompanied by a helmet for safety, as well as another small gift.

To make a monetary donation through December 2nd, and get further information on the Christmas Bicycle Program, please contact Captain Chris Matthews of Hall County Sheriff's Office Courthouse Division at (770)531-7095. Thank you for your consideration. We wish you, and your family, a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas!

(Pictured in this photo with our first bicycle donation are Deputy Nicole Bailes, Community Service Officer, and Sergeant Mark Mitchell, Public Information Officer)
