Flip for Change
The Hall County Sheriff's Office had a great time while showing our support of the men and women in our US Armed Forces, during the "Flip 4 Change" event on Saturday (7/13/13)! World Record holder, Greg Cochran, flipped a 550 lb tractor tire 73 times (for 20 minutes) in support of our Veterans!!! The event held a special place in Greg's heart, with his son (Chris) leaving later this month to join the Marines, funds raised by donation benefited Change 4 Georgia.
Additionally, HCSO's own Captain Chris Matthews (Court Services Division) climbed into the dunk tank to flip some change their way. There were also gift certificates given away to the Fitness Forum, snow cones and kids activities which raised much needed funds.
Special thanks to the Texas Roadhouse in Gainesville for organizing and hosting this succesful event to honor our vets! Also, thanks to those who came out to show support and make a donation! |

New Hire Orientation
New Employee Orientation is a critical part of any new hire process. Orientation can help a new employee learn about the organization and it's values, important policies, benefits, and pay information. Orientation often serves as an "introduction" to the organization.
Human Resources has developed a new and more extensive New Employee Orientation, that kicked off July 9th.
The new Orientation program will include an introduction to the facilities and locations of various County departments, contact information, and employee programs. It will also include a session on critical policies and procedures, payroll information, benefits orientation, as well as Customer Service training.
Because of the importance of timeliness in benefits enrollment, and the value of introducing new employees as soon as possible to Hall County, and its mission and policies, attendance at New Employee Orientation will be a requirement of the new hire process. New employees and managers will be given information and reminders of upcoming New Employee Orientation sessions. Managers or Directors should make arrangements for their new employee to attend Orientation.
Human Resources welcomes your ideas, feedback, and questions regarding the New Employee Orientation program. If you would like more information, please contact Becky Ruffner or Joni Holloway in Human Resources.

Sheriff Couch receives National School Resource Officer Recognition on behalf of Hall County
The National Association of School Resource Officers is in the midst of its 23rd annual School Safety
Conference (July 14th-19th) 2013 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Flordia. The NASRO conference annually brings together school resource officers, law enforcement, school security/safety professionals, school board members, school administrators, and others to receive superior training and networking
opportunities.
As a part of this year's conference, NASRO awarded Hall County Public School Superintendent Will
Schofield its Safe School Leadership Award. The award was received on Superintendent Schofield's
behalf by Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch, today, during the NASRO Conference. The Safe School
Leadership Award is presented by the National Association of School Resource Officers to honor those
who have made an exceptional contribution, and have displayed their dedication to the School Resource
Officer program along with the children, parents and faculty members of our community and schools.
Further, the award represents the determination to further develop the School Resource Officer
program partnership, and to exemplify leadership, innovation, dedication and proactive measures while
enhancing the safety of the local school community.
To that end, Sheriff Couch added "The School Resource Officer program is essential to our community
and schools, in fostering a nurturing relationship between Law Enforcement Professionals and our
children. It also allows the children to feel safe while in their learning environment. We look to continue
the progress made in this program, and provide encouragement for those who choose to support us
through their partnership. Our sincere gratitude to the Hall County Public School System,
Superintendent, faculty, parents and students for hosting the School Resource Officer program."

MIS
Windows 7 - tast bar tips
The basic Windows 7 Task Bar will appear as seen below:
(From left to right: Start Menu Button, Internet Explorer, Folders, Media Player, Notification icons group, Date & Time, Show Desktop)
Show Desktop
To quickly minimize all of the open windows, click the Show Desktop button located to the far right of your task bar.
Rearrange the Order of Icons
I would like to relocate the Internet Explorer icon from the first position to the second. First, click and hold the Internet Explorer icon and then drag your pointer (along with the icon) to right and release the mouse when it is in the order you desire. Any of the program icons can move left or right to be in an order of your choosing.
Add Programs to the Task Bar
I would like to add a Microsoft Office Word to the task bar that is not there by default. This way you can quickly click the icon to launch the program in the future. To add programs to the task bar, open the program and then from the icon that appears in the task bar, right-click and select "Pin this program to taskbar".
Your first call should be the Hall County Help Desk at 770-531-6704. The Help Desk is available for any County computer work-related issue Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
If your need is less urgent, you can also email the Help Desk, and a technician will contact you. |
