Jon eft 2
For the few of you who haven't heard the sad news, musician, producer and fighter for human rights, Jon Fromer, passed away from an extended fight with stomach cancer on January 2, 2013.
He was 66. Many of you know Jon as a producer of KQED's current affairs show, This Week in Northern California, or as we say: TWINC. He was also an accomplished singer, songwriter and dedicated activist.

At his last concert at La Pea in Berkeley, I took some photographs that I am turning into a slideshow for his memorial. I would appreciate it if any of you who have photos of Jon at work, in concert, at play or whatever would send them to me to help flesh out Jon's life. I will ask my friends at KQED to set up a room where I can scan photos if that becomes necessary. I would prefer to skip that step if you can email me a JPEG or TIFF copy to Greatwork. Or you can upload it to my DropBox. Please include your name so that I can credit you. I would like to have all of the new material by February 6th. I may not be able to use every photo but I will sure treasure every one I get.

You can visit  GreatworkProductions.com where I have started a memorial to Jon. I will send a permalink soon.

Here is a link to one of Jon's last recordings, "Sowing in the Morning." It is a testament to his strength and perseverance that he recorded it just four days before he passed on. Besides being a beautiful song, I think it is an inspirational message that sums up a life's work of struggle, of the fight for justice and a personal commitment to use his skills to move humanity forward. It is a challenge to all of us to spend our lives working for good, for something more precious than money or fame.
