 Yadkin Valley Wine Tour
On the early morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2014, thirty-six Duke Campus Club members left Durham for a bus trip to the North Carolina wine country in Hamptonville, N.C, specifically known as the Swan Creek Section of the Yadkin River Valley. Two family owned wineries, Shadow Springs and Windsor Run, were the first visits of the day.  The tour then moved on to the Raffaldini Vineyards where wine sampling took place in the Tuscan-style villa tasting room.  A stop at The Shiloh General Store, run by the Amish, was made on the return trip to Durham. This delightful store was full of home baked goods, furniture, spices and hand crafted items, and toys.

To the delight of all, Chuck Johnson, owner of the Shadow Springs Winery, revealed a special label bottle that he had devised to honor Campus Club's centennial and those visiting his family's winery that day.

Cookies and Snacks needed for Hungry Duke Students as the Spring Semester Closes

Spring has sprung and with it comes another study break! The Friends of the Duke University Libraries hope that you will help bake for the Perkins Library Study Break on Tuesday, April 29.  Students love the breaks, but we can't do them without the help of our bakers! Not a baker?  Students also appreciate fruit, granola bars and other easy-to-carry snacks.

If you would be like to help with this fun event, please contact Macey Colvin at macey@nc.rr.com or 919-969-8061.  She will provide complete details about food items that are needed and where and when to deliver items on the day of the study break.
