Torah Yoga and Jewish Meditation

What is it like to experience Shabbat peace and rest in your body and mind? Using gentle yoga postures, breath and simple meditation this experience will explore the spaciousness of a Shabbat afternoon. Torah Yoga will engage the body in relaxing and centering forms while connecting the practice to the weekly Torah portion. The yoga session will be followed and complemented by an experience of Jewish meditation that will be connected to Jewish teachings. No previous yoga or meditation experience is necessary. Bring an open mind and heart and yoga mat or meditation cushion if you have one. Wear loose fitting clothing.Yoga will be led by Shelley Levine and the meditation will be led by Larry Schwartz.
Shelley Levine
teaches Yoga for the Jewish Spirit at Romemu in NYC, the Jewish Medit
ation Center of Montclair, NJ and leads workshops and sessions at the JCC Manhattan, LimmudNY, for various synagogues and organizations in the US as well as Israel. She provides therapeutic yoga sessions for chronic pain and trauma at the VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. Shelley is a graduate of the Yoga and Jewish Spirituality Teacher Training and Yoga Teacher Training. She has a BS in nursing and an MBA in healthcare management and worked as a healthcare advocate for vulnerable seniors for many years.
Larry Schwartz is the Chair of the Board of the Institute of Jewish Spirituality an organization that teaches rabbis, cantors, educators and leaders various Jewish practices including Jewish meditation, Chassidic texts, exploration into davening among others. Larry founded the Jewish Meditation Center of Montclair New Jersey and teaches meditation at Makom at the JCC and at Romemu in NYC as well as a public elementary school in Montclair NJ.
This is a wonderful way to savor the last few hours of Shabbat.

There is no fee for this program.
