How to Create a Sensory Garden
By: Carly Harrison, Brightsong Student Intern

With the sun shining brighter and flowers starting to bloom, it is exciting to see spring approaching after a long and icy winter. Spring is the season of colors and fun and what better way to welcome the season than planting a sensory garden with your family? Not only will the garden  provide your home with natural beauty, but it is a long lasting therapeutic activity that your children will never get bored with.  Sensory gardens are special in that they benefit children with sensory processing disorder (SPD) by helping them organize and adapt to sensory input while reacting appropriately to each stimulus. The sensory garden accomplishes this by stimulating  their sight, touch, smell, hearing, and even taste! To read more about how to create a sensory garden, click here.
