Intersection Revisions, Panel Replacement Scheduled for Clear Lake
Houston, TX - Beginning on Monday, March 21 contractors will be constructing several design revisions to the intersection of Clear Lake City Boulevard and El Dorado Boulevard in Clear Lake. To accommodate the construction, one westbound lane on Clear Lake City Boulevard will be closed to traffic daily from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Traffic control measures such as barricades, signage and flagmen will be in place as needed, and the District E office has notified the Houston Police Department's Clear Lake substation to request that officers monitor the location and assist with traffic control if necessary. Construction is currently expected to be completed within two weeks, with project timelines subject to change due to weather.
The revisions, ordered by the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department after a comprehensive review of the intersection, include the installation of painted yellow cat track stripes to guide motorists turning left from Clear Lake City Boulevard westbound onto El Dorado Boulevard southbound; the addition of warning buttons and directional signage at the merge point on Clear Lake City Boulevard east of the intersection with El Dorado Boulevard; the trimming of a traffic island on the intersection's northwest corner to provide a better visual cue to motorists; and the correction and smoothing of a left turn lane radius on El Dorado Boulevard southbound.
The City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department will also be conducting a panel replacement project on Monday, March 21 in the northbound gutter lane on El Camino Real at Ramada Drive. The work will require the lane to be closed from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and is currently expected to be completed in one day. Signage, barricades and flagmen will be on site to direct traffic.
