Concrete Panel Replacement Project Scheduled for 1900 Bay Area Boulevard

Houston, TX - Beginning on Tuesday, February 16 the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) is scheduled to replace a concrete panel in the outside eastbound lane at 1900 Bay Area Boulevard near the University Trace Condominiums in Clear Lake. Construction on the repair is expected to take approximately one and a half weeks with completion planned by the end of February, weather permitting.

To avoid interference with peak AM and PM traffic hours, crews will work from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday throughout the duration of the project. The outside and middle traffic lanes in the work zone will be closed daily during construction, with the middle lane reopening upon the completion of work each day. The outside gutter lane where the panel is being replaced will remain closed to traffic until the project's completion. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place on site including traffic barrels, traffic cones, directional signage and flagmen. The District E office has also contacted the Houston Police Department's Clear Lake Substation to ask that officers monitor the location and provide assistance with traffic control as needed.

Concrete panel replacement is a street repair option utilized by the Public Works and Engineering Department on roadways where new concrete material is necessary. Please be advised that this method of repair is not designed to improve or correct drainage issues; it is used to preserve and prolong the life of the road base and provide a smoother and safer driving surface for motorists.

For more information on the upcoming concrete panel replacement project at 1900 Bay Area Boulevard, please contact the District E office at (832) 393-3008 or via email at [email protected].
