I-45 Weekend Construction and Lane Closure Alert

Council Member Dave Martin received the information below this morning from the Texas Department of Transportation regarding the construction road work currently being done on the Gulf Freeway between FM 2351 and Medical Center Boulevard. Please note the lane closures over the weekend, use caution while in the area and try to find alternate routes.

Work continues to progress on the $93 million construction project on I-45 Gulf Freeway from FM 2351 and Medical Center Boulevard. This weekend, I-45 Gulf Freeway southbound will see a reduction in main lanes from FM 1959/Dixie Farm Road to Bay Area Boulevard.

Beginning Friday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. thru Monday, November 2 at 5:00 a.m., I-45 main lanes will be reduced to one lane to allow crews to work on the main lanes. Crews will close the two inside lanes first before switching to close the two right lanes. The entrance and exit ramps within the closure limits will also be closed. Motorists who exit FM 2351 will be able to enter the main lanes just south of Bay Area Blvd. El Dorado traffic will exit at FM 2351.

Motorists should expect heavy delays and are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes.
