Intersection Improvements Begin at El Dorado Boulevard and Eastcape Drive

 

Houston, TX  - In response to a request made to Council Member Dave Martin's office, the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department began improvements this week to the intersection of El Dorado Boulevard at Eastcape Drive in Clear Lake. As part of the project and to accommodate large traffic volumes, city contractors are currently constructing an exclusive left-hand turn lane on the eastbound side of El Dorado Boulevard leading up to the intersection. As a result, the existing left lane will be closed while construction is in progress Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Work may also occur over the weekend to expedite the completion of the turn lane. Standard traffic control measures including orange construction barrels will be in place while work is in progress and will be removed during peak travel hours.

 

Construction on the left-hand turn lane is currently expected to be complete by next Friday, July 3. Please note that all project timelines are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

 

The El Dorado Boulevard and Eastcape Drive intersection improvement project also includes traffic signal reconstruction work, which will bring the traffic signal up to current City of Houston standards. This work will commence later this summer after the delivery of necessary construction materials. Council Member Martin's office will continue to keep members of the public notified as more details become available on subsequent stages of this project.
