MONOGRAM CLUB

The Bishop McCort Monogram Club is an all-inclusive booster organization for alumni, parents, and fans to support Crusher Athletics. The Monogram Club is an expansion of the 12th Man Club that was created in 1983. This organization allows alumni, parents, and fans to support all Bishop McCort High School athletic programs. GREAT AMERICAN RIVALRY SERIES


Bishop McCort High School will be competing against Richland High School on Friday, September 26 in the Great American Rivalry Game.

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of "Friday Night in America." The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed (more information).

CRUSHER ATHLETIC HEADLINES
Boys' Soccer (7-1-1)
 

The boys' soccer team improved their record to 7-1-1 after defeating Bishop Guilfoyle, 4-1 (Goals: A.Conahan, Hagins, Li, Wilson). 
 

 

Next game: The team hosts North Star tomorrow at the Point Stadium for a 1:00 pm match-up against the Cougars. There will be no JV game.  


Girls' Soccer (6-4)

The Lady Crushers fell to 6-4 on the season after losing to Bishop Guilfoyle under the lights at the Point Stadium, 5-0. 

 

Next game: The team travels to Bishop Carroll on Monday, September 29 (4PM).  

 

Boys' (4-1) & Girls' Cross Country (3-2)

The cross country teams were swept at Somerset today, with the boys losing 25-31 while the girls dropped a 15-50 decision. Jake Schulte (2nd in 17:39) and Lauren Weaver (11th in 23:28) were the first finishers for the Crushers. Boys' Results / Girls' Results 

 

In the middle school races, Addison King (CCA 8th) was the girls overall winner for the second year in a row. Michael Hanik (SBS 8th) took the runnerup spot for boys.

 

Next meet: The team is travels to Forest Hills on Wednesday, October 1 for a 4:30 pm match-up against the Rangers. 
 
Volleyball (5-2)

The girls' volleyball team debuted their new gold jerseys and improved to 5-2 on the season after defeating Somerset at home, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17;  McGrath 10 kills; Gibbons 8 kills, 14 assists, 13 digs; Trzeciak 6 kills; Slezak 12 digs;  JV wins 2-0).   

 

Next game: The team hosts Richland on Monday, September 30 (6:00 JV & 7:00 Varsity)  

Girls' Tennis (1-15)

The girls' tennis team lost two matches of a doubleheader against Forest Hills yesterday, 5-0 and 5-0. 

 

Next match: The team hosts Richland on Monday, September 29 (4PM). 

 

 

Golf (5-5)

The golf team traveled to Sunnehanna on Wednesday to compete against Westmont. The boys were defeated, 437-445 (Tercek 86, Niessner 87, Horner 89, Vittone 90, Knecht 93).   

 

Next match: Select members of the team will participate in the LHAC Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 2 at Ebensburg Country Club (10:00 am). 

 

 

ALUMNI NOTES
PRO FOOTBALL UPDATE: Andrew Hawkins ('04)

Thus far, Hawkins has produced 33 targets (T-3rd in the league), 21 catches (8th in the league) for 244 yards (14th) and 14 first downs (T-6th). He is averaging 81 yards and 11 targets per game. Hawkins is on pace for career highs in all categories.

The Browns have a bye this weekend and resume play on Sunday, October 5 in Tennessee.

Geneva College Recognizes P.J. Luksik ('12)

P.J. Luksik was recognized as a highlight player for his performance against Franciscan where he scored two goals in Geneva's 8-2 victory.
