Dear Islander Parents and Students:
It was such a great first day. Thank you for sending such happy and excited students to school. We want to extend a special thank you to all the fabulous 8th Grade WEB Leaders who made the day for 6th graders so energizing and welcoming. It was great to see the kids building connections, becoming familiar with the school and showing such spirit.
It was so fun to walk through classrooms and see the kids getting to know their teachers and their peers. Overall, the day went very smoothly, and we thoroughly enjoyed your children. They were so well behaved and fun to have back. All the teachers were talking about how great the kids were in class and how willing they were to get involved and share their ideas and experiences.
We want to invite you all to our PTSA Parent Welcome Coffee tomorrow, September 3rd at 9:00 am in the Library. It is an opportunity to hear about some "big picture" work we are doing at IMS, meet some of our new teachers (through pictures), and sign-up for volunteer opportunities through the PTSA.
All 6th grade students will bring the Rules and Regulations home over the next couple days in their in their Binder Reminder. 7th and 8th graders will receive them on Monday on their iPads. Over the next two weeks, please take time to review the rules and regulations with your student. There is a signature page for you and your child to sign and then your child needs to return that form to his/her first period teacher by the end of next week (Friday, September 12). Thank you for taking the time necessary to reinforce these expectations with your children.
We look forward to seeing you all soon, either at the coffee tomorrow, at the 6th grade Pizza Feed on the 11th (5pm), at 7th/8th grade Curriculum Night on the 10th (6:30pm) and/or at 6th grade Curriculum Night on September 18th (6:30pm).
Sincerely,
Aaron, Tara and Mary Jo
