GUNBOAT 5501 'RAINMAKER'

AMERICAN BUILT. NEW YORK BOUND.

The proud new owner of GUNBOAT 5501 accepted delivery of 'RAINMAKER' on Friday, May 30th. The Tech Industry Investor and his longtime sailing mentor departed Gunboat Marina June 2nd with Commissioning Captain Joe Logan and Gunboat Founder Peter Johnstone. They arrived in Port Washington, New York two days later. This marks a notable milestone in Gunboat history: RAINMAKER is the first American-built Gunboat and the first of the new Nigel Irens designed 55 Series. Big congrats to the entire Gunboat team and to the newest members of the Gunboat family!

GUNBOAT CLASS REGATTA ACTION

The Caribbean regatta season was fully enjoyed by the GUNBOAT Class this year. TRIBE, TIGER LILY, SLIM, COCO DE MER, and ELVIS joined in the fun at the annual Gunboat rendevzous at the Heineken Regatta in St Maarten. ELVIS took top honors with COCO and TRIBE rounding out the top three under the new class rules. GUNBOAT 62 ZENYATTA got in on the action at Les Voiles de St Barths where she sailed against ELVIS in the multihull class. She finished the season at Antigua Race Week, crewed by an ecstatic group of charter guests.

BIG GUNS

A "Big Gun" team has been assembled at Gunboat headquarters in North Carolina to manage the completion of the GUNBOAT 78 and the design and construction of the GUNBOAT 101. Senior Project Manager Tommy Walker, Senior Naval Architect and Chief Engineer Hal Witaker, Naval Architectural Engineer Myles Cornwell, and Marine Designers Ketch DeGabrielle and Simon Reese have all joined Gunboat to contribute to these efforts. Time to bring out the big guns!

FALCOR TAKES FLIGHT

After an action packed snowboarding season, professional Red Bull rider Travis Rice returned to Wanchese to collect his beloved GUNBOAT 48 'FALCOR'. The GUNBOAT 48 underwent an extensive refit at the Gunboat yard in preparation for her upcoming tour of the South Pacific. After an extended hiatus from sailing, it was great to get FALCOR, Travis, and crew back on the water. Best of luck Team FALCOR!

SUNSHINE

The stunning GUNBOAT 90 'SUNSHINE' is available for sale. This one-of-a-kind yacht was built in Capetown, South Africa, launched in 2010, and has been meticulously maintained and sailed by a professional captain and crew. G4 GAINS MOMENTUM

The G4 Design Team has wrapped up the design detail and tooling is underway at Holland Composites. A complete cruising package has been developed and owners can now decide how to optimize their G4 for the desired usage parameters. Check out the design preview video for an in-depth look at all the specifics. A-CLASS CATAMARAN NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Gunboat was proud to be partner with local organization SailNC to host the A-Class North American Championship. The event took place this past week just a few miles from Gunboat headquarters in the neighboring town of Manteo on Roanoke Island. 50 participants, including our very own Peter Johnstone, competed in the five day event. NEWPORT, ANNAPOLIS, FT. LAUDERDALE, OH MY!

The fall boat show season is right around the corner! We are thrilled to have several opportunities to show off our newly launched, Nigel Irens' designs. We will have both the GUNBOAT 55 and GUNBOAT 60 at the Newport International Boat Show September 11th through 14th, the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis October 9th through 13th, and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show October 30 through November 03.
