FLOW, the gorgeous, new GUNBOAT 60, was the hit of the US Sailboat Show, and will make her second and final promotional stop at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Running October 31st through Nov 4th, this will be the last opportunity to see FLOW before she begins her lap of the globe. You don't want to miss this! To avoid the lines and secure dedicated time with the Gunboat team, email Meg as soon as possible. A limited number of demo sails will be conducted immediately following the show in Biscane Bay. G4 TEAM
Rudo Ensernink, Arno Terra, Micha Heemskerk and Pieter Jan Dwarshuis are the design team responsible for the two time world champion DNA A Class catamaran. This world leading team, from the Netherlands, has been hand selected as Gunboat's design partner for the newly announced G4. So who, you might ask, are these guys? Arno and Pieter Jan are among the top European A Class sailors. Mischa is the current A Class world champion, and holds multiple world championships in other cat classes. Rudo is an avid kite surfer and a leading patent holder in the kite surfing industry. The team worked with the Hydros team designer for the Little Cup and advised three of the four America's Cup teams on foil design. The G4 will be built by Holland Composites, in their immaculate, high tech production facility accustomed to high end projects such as the Assa Abloy, Volvo 60, and numerous classic Andre Hoek luxury yatchts. Nigel Irens Design and Gunboat are excited to have the DNA team and Holland Composites join the family.
The Gunboat class will be sailing under the official class rules in Heineken this spring. Rule writing is underway now and the completed rules should be approved by year's end. We're excited to implement a system to promote healthy competition and we expect a healthy turnout in St Marrten as a result. Gunboat owners, save the date! March 6-9, 2014! More details to come! www.gunboat.com
SAIL NC
Gunboat supports nonprofit start up, SailNC. An initiative of the North Carolina Marine Industrial Park Authority, SailNC has the potential to position North Carolina's coast and sounds as one of the premier sailing destinations on the east coast, for competitive and leisure sailors alike. One of the organizations first efforts will be hosting the 2014 A-Class North American Championships on the Pamlico Sound. Gunboat is excited to partner with SailNC to bring world class sailors to the Outer Banks' world class sailing grounds. See more information and register for the regatta at www.sailnc.org
