Happenings at the Heart

Dear Families & Friends

Welcome to another email update highlighting the happenings at Light of Hearts Villa (LOHV). Remember to visit our Facebook page for more updates and to see photos.

Sixty-Five Years and Still Glowing
July 16th marked the 65th Wedding Anniversary celebration of Joe and Doris; a happily married couple that resides here at LOHV.  Joe played his wife his favorite polka, while displaying their wedding photos for everyone to see. A special proclamation from Bedford Mayor Stan Koci was presented to Joe and Doris by council woman Marilyn Zolata. Cherished friends gathered to congratulate them as they shared memories that filled the Villa with joy.  Our hearts are full of love and well-wishes for this beautiful couple, still glowing after all these years.

Party in the Park Has Got that Swing
Light of Hearts Villa was proud to be a sponsor of Akron Big Band's July 2nd performance at Bedford's 2014 Party in the Park. Party guests had a blast swinging away their Wednesday night, set to the inspired sounds of this stellar band, who has been entertaining audiences all over Northeast Ohio for over 50 years!

Big Win at the
Summer Picnic

Thanks to all who came out to make the LOHV Summer Picnic such a huge success! More than 200 attended the picnic.  A big shout out Thank You to the Nifty Fifties Ford Club for attending with their fabulous classic cars. Among the big winners in our raffle was valued family member, local author and editorialist, Regina Brett, who won a brand new grill donated by the Macedonia Home Depot! Congratulations to Regina. May we all have a safe and happy end to this lovely summer!

Monthly Tea with Betty
It's always a delight to sit and enjoy a relaxing conversation with the residents over a cup of tea.  This month we had an enjoyable conversation regarding their high school years and their professional careers.  They have such fond memories to share of Euclid Beach and growing up in Cleveland.

LOHV Benevolent Fund Renamed
We are proud to announce that the Villa's benevolent fund has a new name.  With blessings from Sr. Helen Scasny, the fund has adopted the following name change:  Sr. Helen Scasny, SC Benevolent Fund.  The purpose of the fund is to support the mission of the Villa.  Interested parties who would like to make a donation can visit our website at www.lightofheartsvilla.org or by contacting Sister Regina or Ida Stanley at (440) 232-1991.

Light Up the Night is Just Around the Corner
We are so excited for our BIG Gala Event being held on August 1st at Northfield Park.  This special gathering will celebrate the Villa's 25 years of love, honor and friendship. We are looking forward to raising funds to benefit the Sr. Helen Scasny, SC Benevolent Fund.  Community Partners and family members have been very generous by purchasing dinner tickets and donating silent auction and Chinese raffle items.  Last minute donations can be made by contacting Ida Stanley, Director of Marketing and Admissions at (440) 232-5700 ext. 520.
