AIR SERVICE GROWTH CONTINUES IN 2015
Over the past two years, we have seen significant positive growth in commercial air service at SUN and the resulting economic impacts have been very good for our community.  We have more visitors, second homeowners and local residents traveling via SUN due to more nonstop flights to more cities, lower overall fares, and more marketing.  We have upgraded and expanded airport facilities, better winter diversion busing and millions more in new economic investments are being made in our community.  We are definitely on an upward climb.

FSVA continues to engage with our airline partners to expand service, with additional seat capacity added for both this winter and next summer/fall seasons.  We are also actively pursuing at least one new nonstop flight from a new market for 2016/17.

Note: These statistics from FMA do not include flights that were diverted to another airport. So we know that the stats for 2015 would have been even higher except for the fact that SUN had significantly more weather diversions this December than the previous year because of all the snowfall.

WHAT SUN AIR TRAVELERS ARE SAYING....

"I wanted to take a moment to tell you about our wonderful experience being bused from Twin Falls last night. Heidi and I were returning to Sun Valley and unfortunately we were diverted to Twin Falls due to weather. We were met at the gate by a wonderful women, who is apparently the host that meets diverted flights. She was very helpful, answered everyone's questions, told us about the take out food option, and then ushered us to the bus.  I understand there is also a host in Hailey that helps people when they are bused to Twin Falls outbound.

The new bus that you have contracted for is outstanding. Last time we were bused we had no heat until Bellevue. The new bus had excellent seats, that were warm and provided for a very comfortable ride. We were told that all of these fabulous upgrades were a result of the new local option tax for air service and marketing.  Congratulations on using the option tax funds for the perfect enhancement. Bus service to and from Twin has always previously given a black eye to our community."   - Ed Sinnott

ALLOW 2 HOURS WHEN TRAVELING FROM SUN
The SUN Airport will be experiencing significantly increased airline service for the winter season. Along with the abundant snow we all look forward to, comes a greater need for effective travel planning.

To insure your successful journeys, we are STRONGLY advising all travelers to arrive at the Airport no less than 2 hours prior to scheduled departure times
.

In the event that Mother Nature intervenes in your travel plans, you will be contacted by your air carrier (make sure they have your cell phone on your reservation), who will provide you with information regarding the alternative diversion bus transportation provided to another airport, so that you will still arrive at your destination on time.
