LCMS COMMITS INITIAL $100,000 TO NEBRASKA TORNADO RELIEF
 |
LCMS Communications/Al Dowbnia
|
Following dual tornadoes that pummeled a small town in Nebraska on June 16, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod has committed an initial $100,000 to the disaster relief and response effort. The funds will be distributed through the LCMS Nebraska District. St. John Lutheran Church in Pilger, Neb., was demolished by the storms that killed at least two people, injured more than a dozen people and damaged 75 percent of the town. The home of St. John pastor Rev. Terry Makelin and his wife also was destroyed. The couple was not home at the time and was uninjured. The homes of numerous LCMS members were damaged or destroyed in the Nebraska towns of Pilger, Wisner, Stanton and Pender. To donate towards disaster relief and learn more click here. Pictured above are flags pulled from the rubble of St. John Lutheran Church in Pilger, Neb. Congregation members wanted to raise the flags over the spot where the church once stood as a constant reminder for the workers who are clearing the debris. BE PART OF SHARING THE GOSPEL MESSAGE AROUND THE WORLD
MOST Ministries requests your assistance in making Witness Bracelets
The Witness Bracelet is MOST Ministries' most popular and effective evangelism tool that is used on the mission field to explain the Gospel message with people eager to learn about Jesus. Each bracelet features seven beads in assorted colors which help to tell the Gospel story. On average each mission team gives away approximately 1,000 bracelets. Currently our inventory of bracelets is completely depleted and we need your help in making more so we can send them out with our remaining 2014 mission teams. The bracelets are very easy to make and all the materials can be purchased at your local craft store or online. People of all ages can make the bracelets and it is also an excellent craft activity for Vacation Bible School, Sunday School or Youth Group functions. If you have any questions, please contact MOST Ministries Volunteer Director Lynn Wrightson by email or phone 734.994.7909.
