Dear Intuition Newsletter Friends,

Without flowers, sweet fruit, high mountains and beautiful girls terrestrial life absolutely would lose the charm.
I've always been fascinated by the fact that some people seem to lead charmed lives and others...well, not so lucky. I'm reading a book entitled "The Luck Factor" by Professor Richard Wiseman. It seems that developing one's intuition is a key factor in becoming luckier!

Below you'll find my ideas about the "Four Ways to Improving Your Luck" as well as "Some of My Favorite Lucky Resources".

Four Ways to Improve Your Luck

1) Keep a Good Luck Journal
You probably have many more lucky things happening in your life than you think. Research suggests keeping a "luck journal" has helped people become even luckier. Did your friend pay for lunch today? Write it down! Did you find a random dollar bill on the street? Ditto! Did someone help you at work today? Did your spouse do something nice for you today? All of these things count. Begin to notice all the good that comes to you and, voila, you attract more.

2) What Do Your Say When You Talk to Yourself?
Do you know that people who are lucky, tell themselves they're lucky? It may be a self-fulfilling prophecy, but why not try it? Has your own self-talk been filled with less-than-lucky talk? Do you say things like:
  • "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all."
  • "Good things never happen to me."
  • "With MY luck, this (bad thing) will probably happen."
A lucky person generally expects good fortune. They say things like,
  • "Things have a way of working out for me."
  • "This setback is only temporary. I know things will turn around."
  • "I'm a lucky person. Good opportunities seem to come my way."
Dr. Richard Wiseman, author of the book, "The Luck Factor", notes that even lucky people experience setbacks in life. The difference he writes is that unlike unlucky people, a lucky person expects the obstacle to be very short-lived.

3) Get Out of Your Rut
Dr. Wiseman's research shows that people who try new things are much more open to serendipity, luck and good fortune than those who don't. This doesn't mean you have to go bungee jumping off the nearest cliff! It could be as simple as starting a conversation with a stranger, taking a class in an unfamiliar subject, being open to learning a new technique or trying a new cuisine. He writes, "Lucky people score much higher on openness than unlucky people, and this greater openness can help promote chance opportunities in their lives."

4) Trust Your Gut to Improve Your Luck
Of course, this one is my favorite! A few years ago I was on Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show discussing this topic.

You often KNOW when you're about to make a bad decision. But, how often do you ignore that niggling gut feeling? Research says we do it quite often and then feel quite unlucky as a result.

To make a decision using your intuition, simply choose one of the options you have in mind and put it to the test:

What does your body say? The ancient Chinese believed that wisdom resides
in the stomach. If your stomach becomes nervous at the thoughts of choosing this option, pay attention. Do you feel heavy, anxious and uneasy when you think of this choice? Your body may be telling you this decision may not promote your good fortune!

Write it down - Feeling unlucky in love? Trying to figure out whether a relationship is a "yes" or "no?" Try this: write a letter to your mate saying, "It's over." Now stop. How are you feeling? If it's relief and liberation, this may be the right decision. However, if you're feeling confused or something about this doesn't feel right, then your intuition is telling you to pause. And...before you go further, rip up your note. Whatever you decide to do, face-to-face is the best way to proceed.

Go to a quiet place - It's hard to get an intuitive hunch to increase your luck if your mind is racing. Try going for a short walk, meditating or simply pushing yourself away from the desk for a few moments and closing your eyes. Bring to mind the decision you need to make and ask the question, "What do I need to know about this?" You might also use the power of your creative imagination to envision the outcome of this decision. Is it an unlucky outcome or a lucky one? Let your intuition be your guide...
