Dear Friends -

It's nice to be back at work after a holiday break. I took the last few weeks to slow down, listen within and allow myself to feel guided to a sense of renewal. I don't have all of the details figured out yet. But, I realized that there are daily rituals which helped the process of discovery. I share a few of them in my answer to Cindy's "Ask Lynn" question below.

In gratitude...

Ask Lynn: I Need to Get Back on Track!

Ask Lynn

Dear Lynn,

This past year has been very difficult for me. I've been working a lot of overtime while trying to get a graduate degree in a new career field. The stress has resulted in some health challenges. I realize I need to pay attention to my self-care and intuition to get my life back on track. Do you have some simple daily rituals or processes that would help?

-Cindy

Dear  Cindy,

What a great questions, especially for this time of year. And good for you for both going after a new career opportunity AND recognizing you need some self-care strategies to bring balance back into your life.

Do you Need to Scale Back?

Intuition Communicates in many ways. One of them is through a loss of energy when you're doing specific tasks or being around certain people.  It's as if your inner guidance is saying "Do less of this!" Think about what's draining your energy. What can you say "no" to? Is it possible to talk to your boss about reducing your overtime? Could you take fewer courses for a semester or two? Is there someone you might want to limit contact with? Sometimes self-care is difficult because we've filled up our lives with too many things that don't give us energy.

Your Daily or Weekly Self-Care Reward

Often, we think of something expensive or lavish as a reward for getting through trying times. Then we get stressed because we're spending too much money! It doesn't need to be that way. Self-care rewards can be simple things like taking a candle-lit bubble bath, a meal with a good friend, renting a funny movie, a walk in the woods, or curling up with a book in front of the fire. Some of us are introverts and like our own company as a way of recharging our batteries. Others are more extroverted and feel revitalized when we're around other people and engaging in good conversation. There's no one right way. Think about what feels Energizing to You.

Meditation is Key

I know! I know! You're already overwhelmed, and finding the time to Meditate is probably the last thing on your list. Please consider trying it for just five or ten minutes at a time. It's the one thing that works wonders for stress. If sitting still and watching your breathe rise and fall or saying mantra doesn't do it for you, try one of the many apps or websites that provide guided meditations. Here are a few of my favorites to check out:

Trust Your Intuition!

When you've completed one of the meditations above, with your eyes still closed, check in with your intuition. Put your hand over your heart and ask your Inner Wisdom, "What do I need right now?" Or, "What am I yearning for?" Listen.... Intuition communicates in feelings, an inner voice, an "aha" moment, a body sensation, or simply a knowing. Act on the information you receive. Intuition is connected to Universal Wisdom that is always guiding us through love and compassion. It will always show you exactly what you need to live a happy and healthy life. Best of luck, Cindy!
