Rosa Parks students
go to court
Just as the last school year was coming to an end, Rosa Parks students went to court for a mock trial at the UC Berkeley School of Law.

Students led the prosecution and defense teams and sat on the jury, while retired Alameda County Superior Court Judge Demetrios P. Agretelis presided. In Case Number 13CR3412, Defendant Timmy McGraw was charged with vandalism, and malicious damage of personal property.

"The kids were incredible, including some kids whose parents and teachers said they had real trouble speaking up in class before this experience," said Ty Alper, Rosa Parks parent and Professor of Law who was behind the project. "The students' level of engagement was inspiring, and I'm thinking about how to keep up the momentum both at Rosa Parks and at other schools as well if possible."
