The School Board has unanimously selected a finalist candidate for the position of Superintendent who they believe is a very good fit for Berkeley.  

The candidate, Dr. Donald Evans, comes with 26 years of experience in California schools (San Diego, Oakland, East Palo Alto, Compton, and Hayward). He has been a teacher, a principal, an assistant superintendent and a superintendent, and has an extensive record of working collaboratively to bring strategies for success for all students.

The Board and consultants have conducted a thorough review of his skills, experience, and references.  The next stage is a site visit later this month. We hope to have a final decision and announcement of appointment in May.
