Provence Marinaside

It was one of the last sunny days of the summer and my wife, her mum and I had the chance to visit Provence Marinaside and sit on their wonderful patio for lunch. This French eatery has a great atmosphere and the service is always top notch. To start, we nibbled at the always fresh basket of warm artisan bread. For our mains, my mother in-law had the Shellfish Steamer: callop, prawns, clams, mussels steamed in white wine, garlic, lemon and herbs ( $13.00). My wife Jude had the Seared Wild Pacific Salmon: roasted fennel, preserved lemon and espelette vinaigrette, swiss chard, bamboo rice ( $29.00) and I could not resist going for the perfectly cooked medium rare Beef Tenderloin: 6oz AAA Canadian red wine and peppercorn jus, oasted vegetables, pomme frites ($26.00). By the way the pomme frites are worth the visit alone!

Mirassou Pinot Noir

We enjoyed a bottle of this wine last night. At $14.99 it is a good value for a California Pinot Noir. It displays fresh fruit flavors of pomegranate, cherries and currants with aromas of strawberries, and cherries. Very smooth and easy to drink, this medium bodied wine is always great with grilled salmon and pasta with light cream sauce.
