August 2014

The school year often creeps up on families as they scramble to get new clothes and supplies on tight budgets. This month's issue of Innovative Connections highlights resources to help with the back-to-school transition, as well as some practices to keep in mind so you can stay within your budget:
  • Share your budget with your children. If they know how much money they have to spend, they can be more selective with the items they need and learn to shop around.
  • Instead of buying brand new clothes and supplies, consider the resources we describe below. And don't forget to shop the sales when you do shop for new things!
  • Talk to your kid about what extracurricular activities they may be interested in, and budget for those as well.
  • For those with a high school student in their lives, we've pulled together a timeline of important dates to keep in mind over the coming year.

All the best,

Innovative Changes
