"I believe the banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.  If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered..."

Greetings!

Its 70 degrees and sunny as I write this; the warmth feels wonderful. The never-ending cold and wet spring is hopefully behind us.

Also behind us is the devastating earthquake in Japan.  That said, our own local, potential earthquake exposure shook homeowners to wonder 'what if it happened here?' So one of the key articles herein discusses earthquake insurance...

Should you consider purchasing this option?

What should you be thinking about?

Another challenge we address in this newsletter is to review the incentives available to improve your home's energy efficiency.

With equity down and financing tougher to secure, these incentives can prove very helpful in stretching the bang you get for the bucks you spend on your home.

We hope this overview will help you determine which

incentives to pursue.

Is your home protected from earthquakes?

With all the recent worldwide and local tectonic activity many of our clients have been inquiring lately about earthquake insurance and what structural upgrades are necessary to their existing homes to qualify for this type of insurance.  Typically earthquake insurance involves a high deductible, often based upon the value of the home, so you may still have sizable repair costs if the quake and the damage is significant.  Also it is likely that you may need to provide structural retrofits/upgrades to even qualify for coverage.  So given the limitations, is it really worth it to insure your home against the potential "big one"?......read more

Save money and earn rebates on energy efficient home products and vehicles

Consumers who employ energy-efficient products in their homes and/or drive fuel-efficient vehicles enjoy multiple benefits including lower home energy bills, increased indoor comfort, increased gas mileage and reduced air pollution.  In addition to helping savvy consumers lower their energy bills at home and on the road, the energy-efficient products eligible for federal tax credits actually lower the amount of federal income taxes that these taxpayers must pay Uncle Sam. ......read more

What a frustrating spring for me.

Usually I spend my free time in the high country enjoying the glorious alpine wilderness in our backyard.  Instead I continue to heal from the terrible bicycle wreck I sustained in early April.  I'm halfway through healing my broken scapula, ribs and wrist.  Instead of carrying a pack I'm carrying a cast on my left arm.  Major bummer.

And you?

I hope this newsletter finds you well and not wearing a cast.  My hope is that all is well; that you're healthy; that you're outside enjoying the many outrageous outdoor activities this place of ours offers us.

I can't wait to get this damn cast off my arm.

I can't wait to carry a pack.

I can't wait to get on my bicycle again.

But I must wait.  Such is life.

Live it to the fullest!

Sincerely,
Rick's SIgnature
