Greetings!

As the school year comes to an close, we extend a special
"thank you" to our donors. FLITE is supported by donations from local community members, business and foundations, and over half of our donations come from generous individuals in the community, like you.

FLITE currently funds 18 programs for children in our local community.

  • One exciting program that FLITE funds is Summer Learning Opportunities This program allows students entering grades 7 to 11 to participate in summer enrichment opportunities that enhance academic and leadership skills.  Camps include leadership and community service, engineering, music, academic and creative arts, writing, and even a criminal justice camp.  Students return to school in the Fall as role models and leaders. In summer 2015, FLITE funded 53 students to attend camps they would otherwise not have had the opportunity to attend.

  • FLITE also provided funding for 15 rising 5th to 11th grade students who attended the Delaware Valley Friends School Summer Program. This program provides intensive 1:1 academic support over 5 weeks so that students are able to maintain their math and reading levels; they return to school ready and eager to learn.
All FLITE-funded programs help ensure that all students in T/E Schools have the academic tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.

With gratitude,
Hank Lloyd
FLITE, Chair

P.S. If your student requires summer reading books or financial assistance to attend an educational camp, please contact your school guidance counselor for program participation criteria and information.

Valley Forge Middle School Basketball Game Scores Big for FLITE
VFMS faculty challenged VFMS student athletes to a basketball game to benefit FLITE. This annual event raised $1,523 which will be used by FLITE to fund important programs that help all students, especially those who face barriers to their educational success, have the academic tools, opportunities and support they need to succeed in school. Principal Matt Gibson commented, "FLITE is an amazing organization that helps many of our students every day through beneficial academic programs. We are proud to help out with this donation." The VFMS Faculty has been donating to FLITE through a Student/Faculty basketball game since 2011. All classes are welcome.

C.A.S.E invites members from all classes to continue this tradition of "Moving forward, by giving back" to T/E schools. New Eagle Elementary School held its annual One-Mile Fun Run, and the PTO plans to donate proceeds to FLITE. "Thank you to the many children, families and community members who supported this great community event. These amazing kids raised funds for FLITE that will provide their fellow students with homework help, summer reading books and other support to help them succeed in school," said Paige Skelly, FLITE Development Committee co-chair.
