Greetings!

The holidays are the best time to reflect on our priorities and to recognize all the people that add a richness to our lives. For FLITE, we remain dedicated to helping students in the T/E School District to receive a quality education. Kids are our priority and fortunately, they are your priority too! We can't think of a better time to give thanks for the people who make it possible for FLITE to successfully create opportunities and enhance achievement for T/E students.

FLITE is an all-volunteer organization that relies on the donations of individuals and corporations to fund the programs we support. Our board members and volunteers are an impressive group of talented individuals who care about kids and devote countless hours to FLITE. Our donors share hard-earned money to fund our programs. We are so grateful to you for your generosity of time and money. The students in our schools are better off because of you.

May you and your families enjoy precious time together and may you have a happy and healthy New Year.

With heartfelt appreciation from FLITE,

Program Spotlight

After School Homework Program

71% of Elementary School Homework Program participants showed moderate to strong improvement in overall school performance and 90% of Middle School Homework Program participants improved or remained the same in overall school performance in 2012/2013.

If I just hit delete, I won't have to eat anymore homework.

The After School Homework Program continues to be our core program. In the past six years, the student outcomes have been:
  • increased interest and more positive attitude in school
  • greater homework completion rates
  • better performance in the classroom
  • improved attendance

This program has also helped to build trust, rapport, and communication between families and the school staff. Clearly, the encouragement and support given to students after school has had positive results. If you know of a student who should be enrolled in this program, please contact the student's guidance counselor.

The significant gift to FLITE is a reflection of their commitment to the education of local children. Jeff Westphal, President and CEO, and his sisters Stefanie and Amanda, co-owners and board members of Vertex, are Conestoga High School graduates and generous community supporters.

Listing of FLITE Programs

If you know of a child who could benefit from any of FLITE's programs, please contact their guidance department.

FLITE raises money to fund programs designed to ensure that students with financial or environmental barriers have the tools and support they need to meet academic expectations.
FLITE works with the T/E School District and community to identify areas of need and to support programs that increase the opportunity for academic success.

FLITE is not involved with selecting participants and is not aware of their identities. School guidance counselors and teachers work together to determine who should participate in FLITE funded programs.

Teachers, if you have an idea for a new FLITE program, please contact your principal and T/E School District guidance department, or submit your idea via the FLITE website "Contact Us" page, www.flite-pa.org.
