Public Space Challenge investing $305K in top ideas for your neighborhood
The Miami Foundation's Public Space Challenge is back! Together with our partners Health Foundation of South Florida and the Office of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Juan C. Zapata, we're investing $305,000 in your ideas to create, activate and improve local gathering places. Learn more about the Challenge in Stuart Kennedy's blog post on how lively spaces help bring our community together, then attend one of our Challenge workshops throughout Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade high school students can apply for Ortega Foundation scholarships
The Ortega Foundation Scholarship Fund at The Miami Foundation honors Jose Antonio Ortega, Sr., who believed strongly in assisting academically accomplished Miami-Dade high school students in their pursuit of a college education. The Ortega Foundation will award $7,000 a year for a four-year scholarship to high school seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above. Foundation hosts first-ever State of Black Philanthropy conversation
Last month, more than 150 donors and civic leaders convened at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex for the 2016 State of Black Philanthropy. During the panel discussion and community conversation, we talked about how charitable giving can help address issues facing Greater Miami's black residents and ways to advance the state of black philanthropy in Miami. Panel moderator and former Foundation Trustee Marlon A. Hill, Esq. captured the evening's conversation in his blog post; readers can weigh in with comments and provide suggestions as we determine actionable next steps. Read the blog post>>

Foundation Board of Trustees welcomes new members
Four new members have been appointed to The Miami Foundation's Board of Trustees. Ranging in industry specialization from financial services to business incubation and the nonprofit sector, these seasoned leaders bring new perspectives and expertise to the Foundation's board. New trustees include Richard A. Berkowitz, Annette Franqui, Pandwe Gibson and Victoria Rogers.
