Foundation office open house unveils new community spaces
Last week, more than 100 Foundation Fundholders and friends gathered to celebrate the official opening of The Miami Foundation's new offices.  Located at 40 NW 3rd Street, Suite 305 in Downtown Miami, the offices include the Ruth & Richard Shack Community Board Room, a convening space for local leaders, organizations and nonprofits to connect around civic solutions.  The Foundation unveiled the new Miami HEAT and Miami Marlins Team Rooms, also available as training spaces for the community.

New partnership advances the arts in Miami forever
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts recently established their reserve Fund at The Miami Foundation.  Through this partnership, the Performing Arts Center Trust, Inc. Fund will sustain their long-term commitment to Miami's thriving arts community forever. They chose to partner with us to leverage our combined resources and benefit from the increased efficiency of working with a community foundation.  Learn more about the philanthropic services we provide to nonprofits.

Felecia Hatcher honored with 2015 Ruth Shack Leadership Award
LEAVE A LEGACY and The Miami Foundation partnered to honor Felecia Hatcher with the 2015 Ruth Shack Leadership Award.  As co-founder of Code Fever and Black Tech Week, Felecia is on a mission to create 10,000 startups and inspire Miami's next generation of tech innovators. This award honors individuals under age 40 who reflect ethical leadership and dedication to Greater Miami, qualities embodied by our president emeritus, Ruth Shack.  Join us at the 2015 Donor Next Door Luncheon on May 14th to recognize Felecia's achievements. Public Space Challenge attracts more than 300 placemaking ideas

The Miami Foundation's 2015 Public Space Challenge closed April 1st with more than 300 idea submissions.  From solar-powered, bio-swale bus stations to sound and art installations across our skyline, Miamians developed innovative ideas to improve, activate and create local public gathering places.  Together with Health Foundation of South Florida and Baptist Health South Florida, we will invest $305,000 to make the top ideas a reality.  Our community experts are now reviewing submissions - see all the ideas here.  (Pictured: Miami Center for Architecture and Design's idea to transform downtown by illuminating historic buildings.)


eMerge Americas' eCity to feature urban lifestyle innovations

Now in its second year, eMerge Americas will kick off May 1st on Miami Beach.  The global conference will focus on how technology and innovation are disrupting industries.  Featured this year will be their eCity Center where exhibitors will showcase the latest smart city projects related to the environment, mobility, renewable energies and more.  The Miami Foundation supports eMerge Americas to contribute to a rich, international exchange of ideas here in Miami, fostering civic and economic solutions that can help Miamians live better lives.
